Order 66 09-09-2014 06:54 PM

OMFG

MyOneAndOnly 09-09-2014 06:56 PM

it's bigger than the old iphone

noyen 09-09-2014 06:57 PM

no, not really. it's just as much of a jump in phones as all other new phones. i don't have the money to participate in it anyway so who cares. enjoy it.

MyOneAndOnly 09-09-2014 07:00 PM

i got rid of my iPhone last year. I got a no contract Moto X for $25 a month unlimited talk, text and data

fuck Apple

also, the price of their computers is too damn high!

slunken 09-09-2014 07:29 PM

i will keep my 4s until it becomes unusable. also my provider offered a deal where if you are eligible for an upgrade and choose not to do it you can get $10 a month knocked off of your bill and you can still decide to upgrade at any time.

yo soy el mejor 09-09-2014 07:32 PM

can we merge this dumb thread with that other dumb thread?

slunken 09-09-2014 07:48 PM

using that criteria there would only be maybe 12 threads left

i considered doing something similar, going month to month. but I was able to sell my 4S and Mophie battery case last winter for $200. Plus my wife's 4 was trashed at the end of our contract and she needed a phone. I went from paying $160 per month for two iPhones to $50 per month.

Republic also offers a $25 no contract plan for the Moto G with $150 up front for the phone.

Trotskilicious 09-10-2014 01:21 AM

back before the majority of boarders were bots

null123 09-10-2014 09:26 AM

Also back when there was a meaningful difference between the new iPhone and the old one

And when people had a more naive worldview that made Apple seem more exciting and important than it actually is

MyOneAndOnly 09-10-2014 12:15 PM

remember when people would put Apple logos on the back window or bumper of their cars because tech tribalism?

Good times!

Raskolnikov 09-10-2014 01:18 PM

What I care about 10,000x more than the new iPhone or the Watch is the fact that they axed the iPod classic with ZERO discussion of the matter.

So lame: that beast is my car stereo's sidekick. Without a functional iPod classic, my car stereo is basically a radio.

Even though my current one is working fine, I bought a second last night to keep sealed and stash away until I inevitably drop or lose my other one.

^ i heard about that too; I've got at 80gb atm, but gonna snap up a 180gb one before they stop being sold.

Apparently the highest storage of any Apple product will be 64gb. Is that right?

MyOneAndOnly 09-10-2014 06:28 PM

they want you in the cloud. like google

Also i was screaming at them for being materialist trend needy jackasses

slunken 09-10-2014 08:22 PM

meh - i grew up in the 80s and 90s and Apple was always this holy grail of supercomputers. For a while that was true. All those albums from the 90s that used Pro Tools and such certainly weren't being made on PC's.

but yea anymore its just user preference. it's all browser-based operating systems.

Back in a simpler time, when a kid could walk down the street without having to worry about getting hashtagged.

slunken 09-10-2014 08:25 PM

although i gotta laugh every time i see a windows or droid commercial and all they do is compare themselves to apple.

it's kind of like those wrangler jeans commercials that subtly make fun of skinny jeans.

I think you mean the Amiga. The Atari and commodore was more lauded than apple in the 80s dude. the Mac had a base with musicians not because of pro tools for recording but for midi and notation software and sequencing that didn't exist on the PC until later. for sequencong and techno music or keyboard/midi shit you had to have a mac. By the time pro tools was a thing to mainstream recorsing it was supported on both systems and the PC came up with its own too. Logic was more of a Mac holy grail nerd thing for musicians, as we'll as photoshop. Photoshop was a huge deal for digital arts too. I'd say nowadays its more of a user preference thing but back then, you're right, they were two complete different beasts of machines desired for different reasons by two largely divided user bases.

yea i wasn't trying to go back quite that far - it just felt wrong saying "i grew up in the 90s and..."

Do you know any cool albums that were made on these machines? The only one I've got is Tangerine Dreams "Optical Race". Mastered on an Atari ST. 1986 I believe.

this is an interesting question, i'll have to do some hardcore research. i'm curious now. i know a LOT of bands used them live for sequencing but i don't know of a ton of albums made specifically using one. i know the cure used logic quite a bit on a mac, roger specifically on pretty much every album he was involved in. i know orbital used atari's or commodores for sequencing live and i know chemical brothers did too. there's bound to be dozens of acts that did this live. id be interested to find a site that listed this stuff similar to guitargeek with the pedal setups. maybe even guitargeek has some of that shit. i'd imagine vangelis used them a lot too... video game music production is rife with atari and commodore stuff, but that's a given i guess.

i'll be getting the crazy huge iphone because reasons

Lucky Day Spa 09-11-2014 12:16 AM
