Libertarians

Sometimes I think they're even worse than religious conservatives Just the smugness and everything.

At least the bible has a few good morals underneath the mountain of bullshit.
Atlas Shrugged is nonsense and just being near anything Ayn Rand makes you worse of a person.

it's like they read the first quarter of Wealth of Nations and then decided that was enough missing
the part where Smith admits his system seriously sucks without government involvement

Trotskilicious 08-22-2014 12:32 AM

well i don't think they are any left on this board

in fact there were some former posters like beef curtains and ryan patrick that were huge libertards in their youth and then grew up and believed in economic regulation

nimrod is an asshole who could only half grasp what libertarianism meant, i think he just ran with "it's okay to be a selfish asshole because that is the most virtuous and honest that you can be" also doesn't post here anymore THANK GOD. he was like if fred durst read atlas shrugged.

jczeroman was always the most studied in libertarian theory but studying under a marxist seems to have modulated his thought but TBH not sure what he actually believes in at this point

sppunk brushes on libertarianism to give off that john hodgkins rich guy persona he wants us so badly to believe

the omega concern is either schizo, paranoid or a troll

Trotskilicious 08-22-2014 01:15 AM

i think when libertarians express a consistent world view they are FAR LESS annoying than the religious right or teabags or buttfuck democrats

Trotskilicious 08-22-2014 01:16 AM

by buttfuck democrats i mean the me-first capitalists who feign interest in liberalism or economic controls and then give up at the slightest challenge from the right

harry reid, for example

Elphenor 08-22-2014 01:18 AM

I actually thought to make this thread because I recently read Pen Jillete's auto- biography/atheism book

He's a libertarian who doesn't drink or do drugs. Ever.

When I was in high school civics they subjected everyone to multiple Stossel videos.
God, I want to punch that elitist prick in the face. The dude seriously once dressed up like a homeless man to be like: "Look how easy this is" then went home wnd had had steak in his mansion.

Elphenor 08-22-2014 01:22 AM

I just say libertarians are worse because they have zero morals. It's an entire philosophy based around justifying the worst qualities of humanity. And they try to push their scumbaggery as if it's "human nature" so they can sleep tight. It's like "No Im not fucking like you, don't insult humanity just because you're an asshole"

Trotskilicious 08-22-2014 01:26 AM

don't trust people who don't drink

Elphenor 08-22-2014 01:31 AM

He's religiously into being "clear-headed" and yet he's still wrong about nearly everything.
And he does mental backflips to avoid admitting that any sort of excess is wrong. It's always dope smoking hippies raining on everyone's parade.

He thinks global warming is a hoax. He's also 100 pounds overweight but says it has nothing to do with overeating because that's a myth

Elphenor 08-22-2014 01:34 AM

Sure let's get rid of government. Let's start with the police.

Then the poor and the middle class can simply take what's rightfully theirs

Order 66 08-22-2014 02:08 AM

these days when people say they're libertarian they're saying they're republican but too embarrassed to admit it

Trotskilicious 08-22-2014 02:17 AM

which is exactly what nimrod's son was

D. 08-22-2014 10:10 AM

I've got no problems with libertarians; sometimes I have trouble with the Dewey decimal system, so sue me.

Order 66 08-22-2014 12:29 PM

dewey was a wop and i'm glad he's dead

D. 08-22-2014 12:40 PM

rest in piss dewey

I routinely whip your ass with information that shows what I research is legit and you consistently stay silent on those points, but it doesn't stop you from ad-hominen attacks because that's all you got.

1000's of MS-13 gang members coming over your Texas border and the traitors in this country are brainwashed into declaring them refugees. Paranoia? You dumb piece of shit, you ain't paranoid enough.

"you dumb piece of shit, you ain't paranoid enough"

classic TOC

MyOneAndOnly 08-22-2014 01:29 PM

libertarianism is nothing but a pseudo intellectual way to justify radical income and political inequality.

Elphenor 08-22-2014 04:45 PM

Couldn't agree more

Do you ever think you'll realize you believe stuff like this because you're incredibly racist or will you just die ignorant of what a crotchety racist you are?

Trotskilicious 08-22-2014 08:00 PM

i'm wondering when he figures out that parroting every single conspiracy theory he finds on the internet isn't "free thinking"

null123 08-22-2014 08:11 PM

Some of my favorite people are batshit libertarians

jczeroman 08-22-2014 09:27 PM

There are libertarians, and then there are libertarians and then libertarians. There are republitarians. There are objectivists. There are libertarians. There are anarcho-libertarians. There are libertarian socialists. I could go on. Even socialism, which has come to have a similarly nonsensically broad definition, is still arguably more concise than libertarianism.

Critiquing 'libertarianism' is nonsensical, because the spectrum of ideas which intersect with libertarianism or are claimed by 'libertarians' is simply too broad. That is not to say that you can't intelligently critique aspects, ideas or groups within whatever 'libertarianism' is, but my experience has been that most people who want to broadly critique 'libertarianism' are usually doing so from some kind of pre-existing party line.

I would add that libertarianism in the United States right now is largely right wing and I think most American self-identified 'libertarians' probably came out of or moved into right-of-center thinking. In parts of Europe, however, libertarianism is an impulse which equally suits the left. England, for example, has a political party for the libertarian right (UKIP) and the libertarian left (Lib Dems).

jczeroman 08-22-2014 09:29 PM

I mean, even the non-aggression principle, which is supposed to be the most foundational principle in 'libertarianism' is disputed by a majority of libertarians in practice if not in theory.

jczeroman 08-22-2014 09:31 PM

The only true 'libertarian' is probably an anarchist, pacifist, vegan hermit with a 10x10 vegetable garden and no family or friends. Everyone else is a totalitarian statist.

Elphenor 08-22-2014 09:50 PM

When you're talking about the liberal form of libertarians which is pretty much "Do whatever you want as long as it doesn't infringe on another's rights" we just call them liberals. That aspect of libertarian is implied when someone says liberal.

But if you use libertarian by itself most people understand you're talking about the right wing libertarian form which is a philosophy that believes property is the only right government ought to really protect

Elphenor 08-22-2014 09:51 PM

Liberal as in "modern liberalism" of course.

Trotskilicious 08-23-2014 05:04 AM

look we don't categorize these thoughts as rigidly as academia, jczeroman

if we're talking about socialist libertarianism then what exactly is the axis

Trotskilicious 08-23-2014 05:04 AM

freedom vs slavery?

there's no freedom, man

Trotskilicious 08-23-2014 05:06 AM

MAN
