Should have taken your advice brother. What with fucking Wainright throwing up a gimme to Jeter and goddamn Matheny putting in Cishek right in the heart of the game. Just brutal.

I guess I bought the myth that "the game matters" now.

Hey guys, I have a bang on, easy win tonight... Throw down 100 dollars on a Cleveland Indians win, and enjoy the money you earn from it to treat yourselves to a nice night out. You all deserve it.

As it stands now, the games at even money... Hilarious.

I've been studying a lot of sabremetric analysis lately and the advanced metrics point to an easy Cleveland win.

Cheers

Quit trolling my threads all of the time. And for the matter, cut it out with the disgusting rep comments... I don't wanna look at that shit

fuzzyroes 07-24-2014 09:07 AM

Sabermetrics are a form of advanced statistics in baseball. They're the statistics that the movie "Moneyball" was based off of.

Believe it or not, that data and analysis is still very largely ignored by the majority of baseball fans and bettors.

sppunk 07-24-2014 09:09 AM

No it's not, you bumbling fool.

fuzzyroes 07-24-2014 09:11 AM

Sure is. Billy Beane and those Oakland teams are were the pioneers of using advanced statistics to their benefit

fuzzyroes 07-24-2014 09:13 AM

He judged his players on a sabermetric level as opposed to the traditional stats that everyone was consumed with.

Rider 07-24-2014 09:21 AM

He has to be trolling, it just can't be real. I mean for fucks sake he is actually getting dumber and more illogical.

Bill James was using the same stats in Boston in the 1980s. Oakland isn't even using the newest statistical approaches now.

The Omega Concern 07-24-2014 03:38 PM

A lot of the new stats are too slanted in a vacuum, viewing the players as single entities in a team game. Not to say they can't be useful, but WAR in particular is overrated.

The good teams have organizational philosophies that they teach players from Rookie ball to the Majors. The A's have led the trend of hitters running deep counts to raise pitch counts and thus get to the bullpens earlier in games. That's where the aggregate totals in numbers like their video-gamish run differential come from.

Stats are always an outgrowth of something else, not the leading indicator of what a player can do necessarily. Billy Brad Beane Pitt combines the statistical number on a player who can be coached up. Many of his castoff pickups work because he understands how to get guys who have nothing to lose and are willing to listen to their philosophy, with the bonus that in the numbers he does look for hitters that already fit. They just get plugged in to their way of going about it and presto, a shitload of wins year over year on a budget.
