Anyways, as record stands now I'm at 6-3 with my baseball picks.

I have a play tonight for everyone. It's Pittsburgh Pirates RL (meaning they'll win by 2 or more runs) Will pay off nicely.

Trotskilicious 07-03-2014 06:39 PM

outlaw baseball!

Trotskilicious 07-03-2014 06:39 PM

why don't you bet on these retarded champions league qualifiers? i bet the team from gibraltar will lose to the fucking team from iceland

fuzzyroes 07-03-2014 07:29 PM

I don't know jack-shit about soccer. Although I won a nice chunk of change betting blindly on Columbia to beat Japan in the world cup. Just figured that the Columbians had to be better at soccer than the Japanese.

Trotskilicious 07-03-2014 08:17 PM

i fucking hate baseball so much

If I were to bet on it it'd be the Giants and since that's my team (as well as the A's) there's just no way. But I've been following them since childhood and I can pretty much guess how things go with them.

so fuzzy, in the aggregate, so long as Pagan is out, they're not even playing .400 baseball without him over a large sample size.

32-54 in 2013

4-12 this year.

that aggregate is here and now. (p.s. this is also why WAR is a meaningless stat)

Trotskilicious 07-03-2014 09:48 PM

i am from central texas. i will never, ever, root for anything from houston or dallas. it's why i'm a NY giants fan. it's why i'm rabid about LOS SPURS (GO SPURS) and it's why IDGAF about baseball

well other reason IDGAF about baseball is because it's FUCKING BORING and it's FOR OLD PEOPLE and it COASTS ON NOSTALGIA and it SUCKS and every fucking TWO YEARS there's a NEW PITCHER that everyone's talking about how GREAT he is and then he blows his arm out or fucks up or whatever and he's on the scrap heap like all the other Josh Beckett pitchers that have been fucking ruined over the past 15 years. Shit, like Lincenum? what the fuck happened to that stoner? Why can't any of these guys be good for more than two years??? what kind of idiot sport is this?

i mean seriously these guys get hurt so fucking bad in a non contact sport. what is the fucking point of it

Trotskilicious 07-03-2014 09:51 PM

i mean am i wrong? i feel the turnover rate these days for "stars" in baseball is like 2-3 years at most

The Omega Concern 07-03-2014 10:00 PM

Lincecum is just a freak, good or bad. That's part of the reason they got Tim Hudson, to mentor him a bit on how to pitch. Timmay went from 96-97 mph fastballs to 90-92 and is still trying to figure it out. Even though his ERA has skyrocketed the last two years, his K's to innings pitch stayed just about the same. He still has swing and miss stuff.

He's always healthy though, doesn't miss starts and he just followed up his no-hitter with 8 shutout innings against the Cards. Longest runless streak of his career, which is kind of a head scratcher, but that's him.

well, if the standard is beyond that amount of time, there's still enough stars to be had, but I get the general thought of the turnover rate. Maybe that's a condition of the constant hype machine put on prospects these days, that wasn't around before.

guys like Cabrera and Tulowitski have been pretty good for awhile now... But yeah, I don't know how many Derek Jeter's there's gonna be anymore.

Trotskilicious 07-03-2014 10:11 PM

jeter may be the last 3000 hit player

Miguel Cabrera has an outside to decent chance. Ichiro as well. ARod? didn't know he was that close. Cabrera is the youngest with at least 2000.

You gotta check out this kid Mike Trout on the LA Angels. The kids an absolute beast, 5-tool player. Best player in the game and he's only 22. I think he's going to have a long career.

You have a point about the starting pitchers though. Any of these new phenoms that throw in the upper 90's are all throwing their arms out. It's a big problem. But theres still a tremendous amount of good pitchers who haven't gone under the knife yet, guys like Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, Yu Darvish etc.

The injury thing doesn't apply to position players though. Sure they'll get injured and what not, but not at the serious extent that pitchers do.

Baseballs a great game, it's a shame you don't like it. You should bet like 10 dollars a game, just to simply get you into the outcome and you'll probably find that you really enjoy watching it. Each at-bat is a total chess match and theres so many fundamentals going on with every play and pitch. It's a heckuva game.

Heh didn't realize A-rod was so close either. It explains a lot as to why he's so desperate to keep trucking on for another year when he's already amassed an INSANE amount of money. Guy just wants to reach the elusive 3000 mark.

Trotskilicious 07-04-2014 07:17 AM

mike trout will be left for dead by the time he's 30
