Pick Your Poison

Elvis The Fat Years 02-26-2014 10:07 PM

every rose has its thorn was my jam

MyOneAndOnly 02-26-2014 10:09 PM

maybe should have included "rough sex" but i figured that falls under self harm

D. 02-26-2014 10:11 PM

i mean, i picked alcohol even though i have hardly felt like drinking in like half a year or something. beer here and there, i guess. i just can't do hard alcohol lately.

Order 66 02-26-2014 10:13 PM

alcohol and drugs should be the same option mang

Order 66 02-26-2014 10:14 PM

if you can smoke it, it's a drug

ergo alcohol is a drug

yo soy el mejor 02-26-2014 10:16 PM

i wouldn't even know where to get fun drugs anymore.

Order 66 02-26-2014 10:17 PM

give you a few hints: ponytail. tool shirt. dead dogs

MyOneAndOnly 02-26-2014 10:19 PM

drive through the ghetto, pull over when you see a non white and ask for drugs

keep your doors locked, though

yo soy el mejor 02-26-2014 10:23 PM

you racist, classist jackass. i fit that description and according to some so does my neighborhood and you'd sure get a funny look if you rolled up to me asking to buy drugs.

D. 02-26-2014 10:28 PM

even though scotty is being "ironic" (i think), it gets really fucking old hearing white people talk about "the ghetto" (technically i live in what most people in kc would call "the ghetto") as this 'other world novelty' and then they drive safely back to the suburbs to tell their friends about slumming it.

sppunk 02-26-2014 10:29 PM

What of someone asked you to buy hugs?

D. 02-26-2014 10:30 PM

i give free hug samples

Order 66 02-26-2014 10:32 PM

i was drinking with a friend in the 'burbs and i mentioned i saw a movie on redbox called "the obama effect" with katt williams on the cover riding a cadillac and he laughed and casually said "well you're in the ghetto.. they gotta pander to that demographic..."

i was thinking,... i live in a "ghetto"? uh okay

i knew a couple like that, from sugarland, moved up to north airport and lamar. there's some crime but not a lot. but they kept going on about how it was dangerous and the hood and the ghetto and i'm like there's a benz dealership in walking distance

they got married and they moved to a place off east 12th and had hookers on their block and i was like OKAY NOW THIS IS THE HOOD

moral of the story is that they are separated after maybe a year and a half

i'm not even going to get into the level of annoying this is

Order 66 02-26-2014 11:14 PM

city-data.com forums have some pretty hilarious white sheltered people commentary about living around "the hood"... i really get a kick reading about my area. i mean it is high crime relative to living somewhere like sugarland but wtf do you expect living in the city

Order 66 02-26-2014 11:16 PM

they complain about ghetto apartment complexes a few blocks away from them but its like where do you expect janitors, cleaning ladies, ect to live... $300k dollar mcmansions?

oh man should i even dare to look up the neighborhoods here?:erm:

i have a feeling i know exactly what the comments would be, even without having heard of this website before.

D. 02-26-2014 11:21 PM

kcmo is like "the city" around here so there's all the culture and events and bbq and all that shit, but right across the state line is kcks and the a little further is the subbiest of burbs, from where all the most annoying people come when they want something to do. they stink up the city with their attitudes and take pictures with all our cool scenery and leave and that shit is like a maaaajor pet peeve and i'd complain about it more but 99% of the people i know live in kansas. i'm a lone duck in missouri.

Trotskilicious 02-26-2014 11:25 PM

it's funny my side of NE austin has actually gotten "worse" but we have a strip now that used to be abandoned that now has a wonderful bakery with these croissants that transform your knowledge about what a croissant can be and a very solid taco truck and one of those indian run gas stations with the huge selections of soda and blunt wraps. i never buy cigarettes from these places but they almost always have the best variety of everything else

i have a taste for grape, apple and big red and someone's always got to make a comment

i'm FROM austin texas, multiply that shit by about 1000x

"The fuck are you talking about, this town isn't cool. There's a statue of a guy who played Jimi Hendrix covers for fuck's sake."

thing about my city is theres no zoning laws so you have alot of people (who i guess are) new to town and they get some baller ass apartment or town home and then they're aghast to find a bunch of thug ass dudes aimlessly wandering in a gas station parking lot or whatever. i'd guess people arent so bad in other places, but it comes down to zoning imo

city-data can be helpful but god some of those people really make me just shake my head.. complaining about choosing the wrong country club.. shit like that

Trotskilicious 02-26-2014 11:37 PM

i honestly feel uncomfortable living in suburban environs

probably because coming from the "wrong" side of town it's like the only proletarian thing i have to cling to, i really am boozhy as shit

then i meet a westlake kid all grown up and am reminded of what boozhy really means

Order 66 02-26-2014 11:45 PM

i'm really hoping to never return to the 'burbs or another stripmall hell... but i know it'd be super expensive unless i'm down with living in a 500 sq ft apartment into my 40s or whatever. and in the unlikely event i start a fam i gotta shell out even more for private school.. so i really, really hope i'm making bank at some point in my 30s

dallas is a little more "integrated" with its 'burbs and city.. don't care for dallas much but i give it that

D. 02-27-2014 05:04 AM

Speaking of Dallas, though, there's a really nice band called The Capsules who moved there from KC. If ever you get wind of them playing a gig, check them out. They're like dream pop with a few effect pedals here and there and I love them and they know me and they're super nice.

Also, trots, in response to your rep, it's not surprising I guess that kcmo is late to the hipster party; we're always late and, while we have some original personalities in the different "scenes", copying off someone else.

lawrence ks is cool but they still drink pbr and have twirly ironic mustaches.

D. 02-27-2014 05:04 AM

i'm rill talktative lately wtf
