How do you let someone know they smell bad?

As in, motherfucker just showered and reeks of shit and BO.

I've asked myself "What would Larry David do?", and he would obviously say something, which would lead to a conflict

I mean I've had dire rear for 2 days and I smell like mother fuckin calvin klein

"hey... this is hard to say, but i'm you're friend. you smell bad. here's some perfume/cologne/whatever"

why does he stink like BO if he just took a shower

maybe he doesn't know how to shower. i find that if my underarms are particularly pungent, i'll use some antibacterial soap. and that will freshen it right up. but not for more than one day though, because that'll cause some serious skin issues.

its also possible that the person has a medical problem.

maybe his clothes smell and he never puts on fresh clothes. he just showers and then puts his poo poo pants on again.

so how do you let someone know? is there any other way than saying it?

do you have to let them know? what if you just let it be? how frequently are you confronted with this person's smelliness?

what is your relationship to this person? how close are you? will they understand where you're coming from? is it possible to talk about this without them getting offended and defensive and whatnot? you say a conflict is basically unavoidable. i guess you're not friends?

Reasons for bad BO

Vaginal yeast infections, Bacterial vaginitis, cleanliness of genital region
Not wiping properly after bowel movements
Yeast infection beneath breasts and arm pits
Diabetes from ketoacidosis
Not showering due to multiple reasons, ie: depression, homelessness
Not using deodorant, or the deodorant is not working
Certain diseases, drug treatments, food allergens

It's hard to nail down one way to help someone that has body odor unless they are willing to talk about it openly. If it's really pungent and you are in the same work space as them each day, then something should be said, but in a gentle manner. You don't know what the person might be facing in their personal life. For all you know they could be living in their car.

I love this stuff, it doesn't make my underarms hurt either. Aluminum is painful on me.

i've seen workplaces that wont allow you to put indian food in the communial fridge because the smell offends some people.
