i don't know

MyOneAndOnly 02-15-2014 05:44 PM

somebody needs to figure this out

reprise85 02-15-2014 09:49 PM

have you tried luvox

and you have to take like double the max recommended to help ocd. you have to take more than for any other indication. im sure your doc has explained this to you or whatever his plan is to help you. if there is no plan, dump your doctor (imo)

also, psychotherapy.

i think, for severe OCD, antipsychotics are sometimes prescribed off label. you are still able to work, so you have that going for you and prob wouldn't end up going this route.

feel better.

already in therapy. it helps. and I have a session every month at the ED clinic.

luckily the shit I do isn't obvious to others unless I'm severely restricting.

it gets better when I get drunk.

Trotskilicious 02-16-2014 05:41 AM

Trotskilicious 02-16-2014 05:44 AM

SSRIs are used to treat OCD.

http://www.nami.org/Template.cfm?Sec...ontentID=23035

Quote:

Many of the antidepressant medications known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) have been proven to be effective in treating the symptoms associated with OCD. The SSRIs most commonly prescribed for OCD are fluvoxamine (Luvox), paroxetine (Paxil), fluoxetine(Prozac), sertraline (Zoloft), citalopram (Celexa), and escitalopram (Lexapro). Clomipramine (Anafranil) and venlafaxine (Effexor) are other antidepressants from different medication classes that are often used to treat OCD.

reprise85 02-16-2014 10:05 PM

luvox is the gold standard tho

Bread Regal 02-16-2014 10:17 PM

a lot of meds are used for a lot of different things.

for example wellbutrin is the same exact thing as zyban, the drug prescribed for smoking cessation. the lamicatal i'm on was originally a seizure medication but i take it for the bipolar disorder. and cocaine, which was initially used as a local anesthetic, is now used by millions to make their own lives fucking awesome.

MyOneAndOnly 02-16-2014 10:47 PM

zoloft has been good for anxiety. probably need my dosage increased

yeah totally. i take lamictal and i'm not bipolar. and i take seroquel but i don't have a psychotic illness. so much is prescribed off label, which is frightening, but i'm glad it's allowed.

dont forget that bayer was the first company to market heroin.

do you count the number of reese's puffs you put in your cereal bowl? do you wash your hands up to your elbows? do you compulsively hoard?

i need to know your OCD symptoms before i can help you, scotty.

MyOneAndOnly 02-21-2014 04:53 PM

I weigh myself multiple tines per day
count how many times I chew each bite of food
calorie count everything I eat and drink
spin all the labels on everything in my cupboards so they face out
empty my closet regularly and refold and stack everything
all the clothes hangers in my house have to be hung with shirts facing the same way

theres more that I don't want to get into online.

ilikeplanets 02-21-2014 06:40 PM

that's beyond ocd, yo

ilikeplanets 02-21-2014 06:42 PM

SSRIs can induced agitated states like that, especially if you suffer from either type of bipolar disorder

you ain't special!

we all do that. and who doesn't clean their closet regularly?! gotta be a dirty freak to not.

MyOneAndOnly 02-21-2014 11:26 PM

the other day my wife wanted to put away our groceries and it just about killed me to let her do it. shit was all over in the wrong place.

slunken 02-21-2014 11:33 PM

That just means she is not familiar with the kitchen, it obviously being your domain and not hers.

slunken 02-21-2014 11:34 PM

Do you count her tampons and make sure the wrappers are facing the same way? Probably not.

MyOneAndOnly 02-21-2014 11:46 PM

real truth

Trotskilicious 02-22-2014 12:26 AM

i'm sorry

i think that we all have our orderly manners, i do the canned goods facing out thing especially when i had an open cupboard but it wasn't going to rustle my jimmies if one was in backwards.

I hope not

that would suck

Trotskilicious 02-22-2014 05:07 AM

you look in good shape so...honestly a non professional opinion being obsessive about calorie counting...you could do worse with your time. you know, like freaking about kitchen order or what your closet looks like.

my aunt had OCD real bad too, but she got a lot better man. know what's crazy, i think that's part of the battle

yo soy el mejor 02-22-2014 08:09 AM

do you not put all clothing on hangers facing the same direction in your closet?

ya know, like they do at department stores. it just keeps things organized and uniform to not have some hooks facing you and others facing away with shirts and junk hanging backwards and inside-out.
