I meant that these people are all smeared by each other, and there is no redemption for them in the media. This is their legacy, and it's really shitty.

And by never want to do this, I mean publicly confront anybody. Because I don't believe it leads to anything good.

edit: people think it will offer them closure and it generally doesn't from what i've seen.

if this had all been kept private, there would be nothing terrible going on in Dylan confronting her step father. But since it is so public, that changes everything.
Yes, I agree. And I wonder what kind of psychiatrist would recommend this path. Treating a patient with child abuse trauma, you say: "Know what's a good way to cope? Write an open letter and publish it in some Hollywood outlet. You will be under so much public pressure, that's absolutely perfect to deal with it."

I mean, I can see that it could feel like a good idea in that it could "shed light on widespread child abuse" and help victims be more empowered. But it's also going to ramp up false memory people who are generally scummy people IMO - at least a good minority of them are actually guilty. It's a big shitstorm, will cause a lot of misery, and I wouldn't be surprised if there's a wave of people confronting people who abused them. I've done it. It felt like it would really help me, but it just made things worse. It feels like it should close the book on things, but you just hear the denial and you know that your memory is fallible and you'll never know *exactly* what happened, and how awful are you if you accused an innocent person?

hey guys you can say woody is a degenerate pederast and still enjoy crime and punishment, it's okay

I've seen nearly all of his films. My favorite will always be a midsummer night's sex comedy and Hannah and her sisters.

It's very uncomfortable to watch their public exchanges in the media. Woody wrote a letter the other day, then Dylan responds again. I wonder if they ever gave thought to consulting a mediator or therapist to discuss all of this in private with one another.

But yeah... why did Mia support Polanski? Why did she consent to her film clips being used in a tribute to Woody at the golden globes? I'm confused by her behavior. I'm not saying that these things discounts Dylan's victimization.

i've only really seen the sweet and lowdown and crime and punishment and i enjoyed both and how complex they were...he's gifted storyteller and a total perv for teenage girls

Trotskilicious 02-09-2014 05:50 AM

i mean it happens yall. there's a thing in literary criticism about death of the author that's good to keep in mind with roman polanski, woody allen, and name your drunken weirdo author of the last 200 years i mean seriously

Sleeper has to be one of the strangest films I've seen. Husbands and wives and Annie Hall are also pretty good. I tend to relate to some of these neurotic characters, really sad but true. Crimes was great! I'm trying to find Love and Death.... I don't think netflix has it anymore. It's been in the queue forever.
