Here's my conspiracy theory:

Roger Goodell (or an agent operating under his direction) made a phone call to Dan and Art Rooney.

The proposal was asking what it would take to guarantee a draft pick for Michael Sam, who deserves a pick anyway, but risks not getting one. He might get picked. He probably will. But he might not - a scenario the NFL can't afford to chance.

The Steelers have been battling salary cap woes for two seasons, and are in a position to make a decent run in the playoffs. With just a tiny bit more cap space than anticipated, they could hold on to their veteran players to milk one more season out of them before they're put out to pasture. Their vets are vital to their chances of a ring this season.

In exchange for a guaranteed pick, the cap gets a larger-than-anticipated boost.

If he winds up a Steeler, no organization would handle it better.

The Steelers were peaky after game 4 when guys were playing for their jobs. I think this season should have a much better start. The Steelers offense was great the last half of the season. Unfortunately it took half a season for them to learn how to play. Adding Munchak is huge.

They'll be a decent team this year. I hope. If they fix the defense they'll be in good shape.

not sure why basketball shorts got longer. google tells me the fab five started it but it just seems like a weird trend that trades off utility for fashion.

Perhaps rather than factoring in average leg size lengthening over the years in relation to shorts getting longer, we should consider average NBA penis growth. Maybe they need more material than we think.

I wouldn't say that as NBA is generally shorter since it's in an era of essentially no 7 footers.

As a Bucs fan I'm embarrassed of the new uni kit. There is nothing redeeming about this abomination. That said, my give a fuck level will decrease greatly if the product on the field is better this year.

Sounds like TJ Ward and Jairus Byrd will both be hitting free agency. I'll be extremely disappointed if the Eagles don't make an effort to sign either of them. Safety has been such a gaping hole on our defense since we let Dawkins walk. Signing both would be nice but that will be way too much money going to the safety position.

Ideally I'd like them to sign Byrd and have him be our FS then have Earl Wolff start at SS. Then go OLB or CB in the first round.

Too bad they can't fire the city that hosts them.
