I'm not a Dio fan. IMO his persona seemed like too much camp for the band. I always found his vocals offputting. Granted it's always been Iommi's band, but by the time they got to Technical Ecstacy I think they should have just called it quits instead of fronting Ozzy substitutes. Or maybe just changed the name of the band...

also, the new record is pretty good and shows that Iommi, Butler and Osbourne are still better than almost any hard rock band of the past few decades.

Ozzy obviously. Dio was much better with Rainbow.

i really liked the post ozzy stuff, especially heaven and hell. but it was like a completely different band though

the first rainbow album is godlike. everything went steadily downhill after that though

How many bands successfully replaced a front man that wasn't the main songwriter. Van Halen, AC-DC, Gennesis.... although in every instance I liked the original vocalist more than the replacement.

i listened to paranoid for the first time because of this thread

same here. except it was iron man for me

i wasn't impressed, it just sounds like every other metal band
