man if that vid doesn't sum up that whole culture, it's really well done in that regard

Trotskilicious 01-30-2014 12:26 AM

it's perfectly historical

I like that one too. I had a couple of older brothers and had to listen to an array of stuff from that era.

I'm surprised no one posted this yet

slunken 01-30-2014 03:47 AM

Its worth noting that most songs (that one included) were written by bass player Nikki Sixx.

I've always been astounded by bands that had a guy who wasn't the frontman but still in the band writing most if not all the material

slunken 01-30-2014 03:47 AM

the only one off the top of my head right now would be cheap trick

slunken 01-30-2014 03:48 AM

speaking of cheap trick, there's a rumour that rick and bun e ghost-play on a couple motley crue albums because the respective members were too wasted - i can dig it

Also it's funny when bands lie about members' ages. Gotta sell the image!

Police

Modest Mouse

One Direction

There are a few other bands from that era that made at least an album or two of good music. Metallica, Guns & Roses, etc

What I always found odd were older metal acts that picked up the trappings of the Glam scene. Like Ozzy with permed hair singing radio friendly ballads. It's like the Stones in the 70s trying to make a disco album.

I have a feeling that this retirement tour is legit and you won't see the complete band tour ever again. Mick has serious health problems. The guy is in his 60s. I'm amazed he can even stand on stage for an entire concert, not to mention do an entire tour.

Trotskilicious 01-30-2014 03:22 PM

not like the google check wouldn't have revealed this if i was looking more carefully

MyOneAndOnly 01-30-2014 03:35 PM

I saw the Police on their last tour. Very good for a legacy act
