i'm hoping this is the year i "turn it all around"... though there isn't anything particularly terrible about my life right now, it just feels really monotonous and i want to change that before i go crazy and shoot up a mcdonald's or something

gonna take a few night classes. fooling around with the idea of getting a degree ... though i dunno if i'm in a position where that'll help or not

this year pretty much 99% of my friends will be officially married. that's going to be depressing.. so i'm going to be really aggressive about putting my face out there, going out, meeting people. i want this to be the year i 'settle down' with somebody but you can't really plan that kind of thing

MusicMan4 12-30-2013 02:25 PM

Gonna chill

Make up my mind if I want to stay and settle down in the US, maybe retire for a while and take a time-out. Sleepeatfuck.

SSS has inspired me to find places in Missouri to hike and trail walk. Granted this was already something I've set out doing (albeit minimally) in '13, this coming year I'll be doing a lot more of it!

eventually i want to do the 8 1/2 mile hike at meramec state park in sullivan, mo. :smoke:

D. 12-31-2013 12:55 AM

as far as official resolutions, i just wanna really get outside more and put important shit in my life as first priority

Have you ever been to Hannibal? I really enjoyed visiting Mark Twain's museum/home, and the shops. Also went through a couple of caves. I haven't been since 2001 so I don't know what it's like now.

I've been to Hannibal a few times. Once on my way to Chicago and I went on his home tour. The town itself has this look and feel to me that I love and appreciate. I also stopped in once on another chi trip and I checked out the graveyards they had there. Neat stuff.

Are the caves super crazy? Because I'm pretty scared of being in a cave with no lights/direct line to the exit. I went to fantastic caverns in summer '11, but that's also a commercial tour.

Working, eating, drinking, sleeping, fucking.

No special plans yet. Hopefully losing some weight and quitting smoking. But we'll see.

Raskolnikov 12-31-2013 03:01 PM

My wife and I just had our first kid on 12/17 - if the past few weeks are any indicator, I'll spend my life in a mix of "whoa, this is insane" and "whoa, this is great" and "whoa, this little person depends on me for everything" - all the while smiling like a fool.

Well, aside from the time that I'm working my job to keep the roof over our heads, ya know?

MusicMan4 12-31-2013 03:03 PM

So if your partner doesn't want to get married/engaged you'll break it up?

kelsome 01-01-2014 12:46 PM

it's not as black and white as I said. It's more about moving on from something that isn't going to go anywhere/isn't going well. we have had long enough to figure things out. I need to start thinking about having a happy life at some point.

You can plan it and it's as simple as going to Home Depot and buying some rope, electrical tape and a shovel for "just in case".
