True, but the actual reasons for potential harms are going to be far more nuanced than the naturalists would have one believe, and indeed it is because of those complications that potential harms could in theory go undetected. That being said, in most cases of non-natural products, the substance in question has been thoroughly vetted. Proteins and such are a more complicated issue largely because protein-protein interaction remain uncharacterized in many instances
