Years ago before I came here I posted on audiogalaxy and there I actually was able to interact more with people. But still in a limited way. I did a combination of what I do now and I actually chatted / made some acquaintances.

But by the time I got here I had no real interest in that anymore. I've always been closed off so it had nothing to do with that. I think I saw a level of dysfunction here and on audiogalaxy that I didn't want to be involved with. Honestly sometimes I felt like it was beneath me to interact with people here. Also as my interest in psychology grew it became more about being an "observer" than a participant here.

God it feels like this place is heading towards a fucking mass suicide. So much anti-social depressed naval gazing here now.

i've been thinking this a lot lately. a lot.

if you don't feel the desire to have honest dialogue with people I don't think you should beat yourself up over it. Not everyone is outgoing. Not everyone enjoys engaging in banter online. If you troll, though, in an effort to avoid being genuine, then I think you have a problem.

It may come off as trolling but in a lot of ways it's really blogging. Just having an audience for whatever is on my mind.

This relates to being introverted as well as having an interest in psychology. Because psychologists are observers of human interaction but as a closed off person I find myself in that position rather than participating.

I'm introverted and observe a lot in real life. But the purpose of a message board, if you post on it, is interaction. Otherwise you're just jerking yourself off.

Plenty of people just watch but if you put something on it yourself, why do it except to have a conversation. Sure sometimes people post in a blog like way but it's not livejournal.
