please recommend me some slow loud guitar music

that's not sunn 0))) or boris. looking for something more like classic EARTH albums (more american deserts and less black metal). as i mentioned in another thread the only album i have right now that fits this category of what i'm looking for is the jon porras album "black mesa"

slunken 09-30-2013 09:27 PM

or should i just listen to the new earth stuff? i've ignored it because i dislike the medeival looking covers that make it look like nerd metal.

TuralyonW3 09-30-2013 10:02 PM

You haven't heard nu earth? For shame. Check out bee made honey in the lions skull

Let me think about some other recommendations.

TuralyonW3 09-30-2013 10:03 PM

I dig that black Mesa album too. I'm assuming you're heard barn owl?

soniclovenoize 09-30-2013 10:14 PM

Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but check out Bardo Pond possibly.

Shallowed 09-30-2013 10:35 PM

Was gonna say that ^

noyen 09-30-2013 10:43 PM

barn owl, higuma, elm, portraits according to lastfm.

TuralyonW3 09-30-2013 10:56 PM

Check out the bardo pond/Carlton Melton split

I'll just copy paste videos that maybe are close to what you're looking for
They're not instrumental though

Loud and slow

bluesy/noisy and loud

just crazy japanese people with loud guitars

I love this CD by them, it's more experimental and slow

More experimental than loud

Just Doom Metal, on slowmotion

Everybody probably already know this by now

yes of course but that's not what i'm looking for. unless i've heard the wrong albums.

thanks for the specific recomendation for bardo pond. will have to check them out.

checking out the other links posted too. yes i know super minerals but that's not what i'm looking for at all. i would put them with barn owl.

also yes looking for instrumental stuff. checking out all links now.

slunken 10-01-2013 12:10 AM

that talvihorros isn't bad.

the rest is not what i am looking for.

slunken 10-01-2013 12:11 AM

looking into some bardo pond now.

what i like about earth or porras are those long distorted open chords with a few extra strings hitting open notes that you can hear crackle and decay

slunken 10-01-2013 12:12 AM

i feel like i'm just going to get some more earth albums out of this.

slunken 10-01-2013 12:13 AM

oh i also liked brightblack morning light

noyen 10-01-2013 12:14 AM

big fan of yume bitsu, bardo, this will destroy you, mono, surface of eceon, landing, labradford, bowery electric, white rainbow, purple and green

noyen 10-01-2013 12:14 AM

listen to yellow turban and tommy gun angel by bardo. then buy all their records and tapes.

slunken 10-01-2013 12:16 AM

oh wait i've heard bardo pond before - too muddy and drummy

couldn't find anything for elm or portraits.

looks like earth it is - despite the horrible cover art

slunken 10-01-2013 12:18 AM

haha labradford. what's next trans am?

noyen 10-01-2013 12:20 AM

find your own shit then hipster

slunken 10-01-2013 12:20 AM

oh but thanks for the recomendations

slunken 10-01-2013 12:21 AM

less is more as they say.

noyen 10-01-2013 12:21 AM

thank you for shopping at costco, i love you.

nothing wrong with earth. they change a bit the further back you go. enjoy, all praise satan.

slunken 10-01-2013 12:22 AM

i guess i shot myself in the foot by saying "sounds like classic earth" when i guess i should just be listening to earth.

edit: yea i've only got the earlier albums like hex and what not.

TuralyonW3 10-01-2013 12:26 AM

man I love Pentastar

noyen 10-01-2013 12:27 AM

then you prolly wont like stuff before hex but who knows. southern lord is a great label as well as hydra head. youd probably like a lot of their bevy of bands.

noyen 10-01-2013 12:29 AM

they play tallahassee so differently now. i like that earlier version a lot too.

TuralyonW3 10-01-2013 12:30 AM

you've heard this skronk-stomp monster right slunk?

i've heard this. and mabye this could be used as an example of what i'm talking about. the above example is an example of earth that i'm not looking for. there is too much going on. i prefer the minimal, meditative, dirgey stuff. less riffs, less noise, less drums. more decay, more silence, more space between the notes.
