standardized and patented

A social worker that I used to work at the same school as is going to help me get my personality theory / assessment standardized and patented. She has a girlfriend who she thinks can assist with that.

I thought I had a hit a brick wall after the other social worker I spoke with who had told me she was going to show it to her program director never got back to me when I emailed her. She had told me she was willing to use it on the emotionally disturbed population that she works with and she also assured me that I could definitely make money off of this idea once I got it published. I guess that is where the patenting comes in.

This new woman I'm in contact with happened to come in the room last school year when I was showing it to other social worker. I told her all about the positive feedback I had gotten not only from her but also the psychologist I showed it to ( who happened to email it to all the DCPS psychologists asking for feedback)

Adult Head 09-23-2013 07:39 PM

i am reading the words but they are not assembling into any sort of meaning

Starla 09-23-2013 07:53 PM

Didn't we already have a thread about this, or am I going crazy?

Catherine Wheel 09-23-2013 07:55 PM

I guess I could have searched for the old thread and added more to it. But I didn't feel like doing that. So I just made an update thread.

Starla 09-23-2013 08:31 PM

No, that's okay. I just thought I was going crazy.

Future Boy 09-23-2013 09:13 PM

its not okay, fuck you catherine wheel

hnibos 09-24-2013 04:55 PM

holy shit dude, are you for real?

Catherine Wheel 09-24-2013 05:36 PM

Yes. This is really happening.

reprise85 09-24-2013 05:46 PM

So... you're going to do years of studies that take into consideration variables, for example socio-economic class, psychiatric history, age, etc as well as standardize it by having many people administer the tests to the same people to see if the results match, as well as write a treatise on what psychological concepts you are using to come up with your questions and classifications? I hope you have a couple of years to devote to this endeavor and some financial backing.

noyen 09-24-2013 05:51 PM

positive facebook feedback..

Catherine Wheel 09-24-2013 05:58 PM

Well the treatise has already been written. The treatise along with the assessment and the career counseling section was emailed yesterday to the social worker.

noyen 09-24-2013 06:01 PM

booming market for the emotionally disturbed, lining up to take multiple choice quiz. how can i invest? i mean who isnt emotional and disturbed by it.

noyen 09-24-2013 06:04 PM

i mean, it seems transparent to me but why dont you just register a domain name, and start charging people to take your test. lumosity.com is taken, you know the brain exersizes that are fun games!

So you wrote the equivalent of a dissertation on this? With sourced information? With experiential data proving the relevancy of your system? And data to show that the results of the test are internally consistent and reproducible? And you've tested a large amount of people to see if there is scattered data or if one categorization is more or less popular - and why those sorts of data bottlenecks exist, if in fact they do? And also you've shown in your treatise how your categorization can help with mental health treatment, general wellness, career selection, etc? With examples of people who you've used it on experimentally and their outcomes re: treatment/wellness/career/etc? You've also experimented with word selection in your self-scoring measures, and seen if different vocabulary affects the outcome of the test when the meaning is the same and only the descriptive words differ?

And I could go on with questions but do you get my point?

MyOneAndOnly 09-24-2013 09:22 PM

LOL

CW is the new Briggs-Myers

MyOneAndOnly 09-24-2013 09:23 PM

total bullshit

Bread Regal 09-24-2013 10:33 PM

This is less Myers-Briggs than it is Dunning-Kruger.

D. 09-25-2013 12:18 AM

Does a love of shoegaze factor into your assessments and studies? Where do I fall on the Catherine-Wheel scale??

Sonic Johnny 09-25-2013 12:24 AM

According to these results, you might enjoy being an aged care worker or a navy clearance diver. These jobs are very similar in that you cannot do them if you are a quadriplegic.

I feel like an asshole for discussing this at all but I think it's just autistic thinking.

Trotskilicious 09-25-2013 12:36 AM

Thanks to the CW Test (tm) you will be best suited as either an astronaut or a priest. Both jobs are linked by the fact that they both deal with the heavens.

reprise85 09-25-2013 12:36 AM

a good definition:

preoccupation with inner thoughts, daydreams, fantasies, private logic; egocentric, subjective thinking lacking objectivity and connection with external reality.

http://medical-dictionary.thefreedic...istic+thinking

reprise85 09-25-2013 12:38 AM

egocentric not meaning egomaniacal in this sense, more like a lack of awareness of objective reality and other people's depth of thought

Trotskilicious 09-25-2013 12:39 AM

Sample Question:

When having this other woman you know over for coffee what record do you play?
A: Ecco and the Bunnymen
B. Elbow
C. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
D. The Weeknd
E. Exit Calm

Order 66 09-25-2013 12:39 AM

the radioheads

Trotskilicious 09-25-2013 12:40 AM

reprise85 09-25-2013 12:41 AM

reprise85 09-25-2013 12:42 AM

seriously im so used to dealing with trauma and depression-related psychology stuff that this is simply fascinating to me and i dont quite understand it.

reprise85 09-25-2013 12:44 AM

CW dude though, what would be your goal in getting something like this patented and used? is it a money thing (you always seem to bring up money)? do you think that the value in this is as a career test of some sort?
