Best place to live in the U.S.?

If you could live anywhere, where would it be? I'm still looking around for a good city, either coastal or not too land locked and I'm undecided. I've been thinking about checking out South Padre.

Banana 09-22-2013 07:23 PM

I've wanted to move to either Austin or somewhere in Colorado for awhile now.

Starla 09-22-2013 07:25 PM

Colorado is really nice, but I'm kind of tired of being land locked. Since I'm near a pretty large lake, it doesn't feel so bad but I'm missing the ocean.

Order 66 09-22-2013 09:05 PM

because i'm in a niche industry i'll probably be stuck here forever. unless i want to go to ohio.. no thnx

but if that wasn't the reality i'd probably choose somewhere in the northwest like oregan or something. its not too metro, not too hick. colorado used to be high on my list but people there are a little whacko, and not in a endearing eccentric kind of way.

Starla 09-22-2013 09:34 PM

There are some wackos up here too, but they mostly stay in the woods, and only come into town for groceries and stuff.

I'm kind of wanting a nice coastal area that's good for families, with a sense of community. Something out of a Nicholas Sparks novel.

A long time ago i was thinking I wanted to live in Vermont, or somewhere up in Maine. I don't mind harsh winters.

The Omega Concern 09-22-2013 11:19 PM

ummmm...

Pacifica, Ca.

heh.

Bodega Bay...Inverness, Marshall...that side up the coast a bit. away from the city.

The Omega Concern 09-22-2013 11:24 PM

better yet. Sea Ranch. that coastal utopia the hippies tried to build back in the 60's. didn't quite catch on, but, what's there now is a truly sovereign area replete with its own water and energy sources. but the Fukushima over time...i dunno know bout the west coast anymore. the Gulf? errrmmmm...things to consider.

I've already lived in Pacifica. It was nice but I really don't want to go back.

I need to be outside of the city, but within a 30 - 45 min commuting distance. My daughter does not want to go back to Ca. Lately, she's been telling me we shouldn't go there. I think she's gotten used to a small town... where she feels relatively safe and the community here is a little more tight knit. Most parents are really nice and look after each others kids, etc. She would love to just stay here, but I don't see this as a place i want to put roots down. And yeah, the radiation is a concern. I don't think we know exactly how much we will get there.

Mayfuck 09-23-2013 05:11 AM

hit the east coast. maybe ashelville or charleston or something

Mayfuck 09-23-2013 05:12 AM

TOC you ruined the lost coast fuck

kelsome 09-23-2013 11:12 PM

Asheville is in the blue ridge mountains. Mild winters. About 5 hour drive to the beach. Pretty good deal. Surrounding cities like Black Mountain and Hendersonville might be good to look at, too.

The Omega Concern 09-24-2013 12:29 AM

I hear good things about the Carolina's, though I've never been.

honestly though Starla, i thought you were in the Rockies region because that's the best place to be in case the pole shift stuff is on point and that region up north through Canada becomes a breadbasket.

If you're saying the zionist who nuked the seabed to create the tsunami and provide cover for the stuxnet attack at Fukushima which has led to quite possibly the worst catastrophe in all of human history to get at me, you might have a point.

Pole shift  What about the mountain building process that takes place during one of those?

Both good towns. Asheville's job market sucks depending on what kind of work you want to do and is relatively more expensive than the surrounding areas but is worth it. I'm looking at moving back within the year.

Charleston is a gem and the only redeemable part of SC.

Dead Frequency 09-24-2013 04:01 AM

Washington is pretty nice, tho people love to complain about the rain.

toase 09-24-2013 09:51 AM

If I could live in the US I would live in Hawaii

duovamp 09-24-2013 12:35 PM

Beef is mad expensive there.

lol not south padre unless you like periodic tides of college-aged drunken tourists

if the texas gulf coast strikes your fancy i would look north of corpus, places like rockport-fulton and etc

hilton head

duovamp 09-24-2013 01:30 PM

Hilton Head is expensive as fuck too. Where the fuck do you fucking trust fund kids get off making these kinds of suggestions?

duovamp 09-24-2013 01:34 PM

Pittsburgh has spoiled me. We're about to sign a lease on a 1400 sq foot apartment and we'll be paying less than 75 cents a sq foot per month.

And I'll be damned if I have to pay 2 figures for a meal at any Asian restaurant.

duovamp 09-24-2013 01:38 PM

Really the only downside is you live in Pittsburgh.

Not a huge fan as the water itself tends to stay murky and the island is awash with redneckish "new money." Obviously any coastal town will attract folks with cash but Charleston (especially the Folly Beach area) retains more of a bohemian, come as you are feel without a dangerously high patchouli level.

Trotskilicious 09-24-2013 04:17 PM

any time someone says bohemian i check out

noyen 09-24-2013 05:57 PM

i like washington dc area and outlying suburbs. baltimore is a wonderful place to raise a family. im thinking about moving to detroit and buying one of those burned out houses to be a freelance artist and help gentrify an area that once had a rich culture of hard labor, pain and suffering.
