macular degeneration

i had an eye exam last november because i failed my drivers license eye test thing but the guy passed me anyway thinking it was equipment failure. turned out i have non age related macular degeneration in my right eye. been wearing glasses since then and i enjoyed seeing things for the first time again in many years. tonight though, things went especially blurry and i can hardly see out of that eye. its hurting my head and making me dizzy.

please post those images that require two functioning eyeballs so i can get all pissed off about schooners and sailboats and just end it all tonight.

Are you kidding? That's terrible, I'm sorry. :(

God we're such a motley bunch of sorry ass freaks, around here. I've never felt such a sense of belonging before.

this is your ticket to medical marijuana

roleplaying as sppunk here. why are you so emotional vixnix? there is nothing freaky or sad going on here. this is my ticket to medical marijuana. glaucoma nervosa. the glaucoma attacks the macular sack as it enlarges in an aroused state. when the macula sees light nipples will harden and sperm will rush to the site of the degeneration. smoking weed will regenerate the macula giving it a glossy sheen that attracts small baby animals. so basically when i get high a petting zoo will transform before my blind eyes.

I'm sorry that you are dealing with this. I've had optic neuritis for years due to ms. My first symptom was total vision loss and it was pretty scary. It took two weeks for it to come back, but I didn't regain all of it. I mostly deal with episodes of blurred vision from time to time, but I do pretty good w/ treatment.

Which type do you have?

hey starla. i honestly dont know if it is wet or dry, the guy who took the picture and showed me and said my right eye was so bad it looked like someone who was 90. and that i would eventually go blind. i didnt know what to ask about it and he didnt really offer up a lot of help. he seemed to be in more shock than i was because of my age. my left eye had only slight specks in the picture. my own theory as to what caused it is that i used my right nostril 99% more than my left when i was abusing the hard drugs. i also have a weird collapsed thing near my tear duct on my right eye probably from drug abuse of the same type. but thats my own stupid theory. turns out anemia, which i have the pernicious variety, can cause this early onset shit. i have so many health problems now its just a matter of time. i wouldnt be all that broken up if i just went blind in one eye. its definitely gonna happen someday. i should have seen an eye doctor instead of waiting 30 years. the only other eye exam ive had in my life prior to last year was when i was in elementary school.

Has the doctor talked to you about glasses? Do they think it may help you? I can't wear contacts anymore, because they seem to make things worse. But glasses seem to help the weakness in my eyes.

I hope that they can do something for you. My friend has pernicious anemia and is taking B12 (sublingual ) tablets for it. Apparently it takes a lot of time to correct it. Anemia can make you feel like hell. It is amazing how bad it makes a person feel. I had iron deficiency once and had to have a blood transfusion. The difference in how I felt going from a 9 hemoglobin to a 12 was like night and day within a matter of hours. Hope you feel better.

yah i got glasses out of the deal. it was like seeing for the first time. i didnt realize how bad my vision was until i got glasses. i went for the elvis costello look. they help so much with reading and driving at night.

i wish sublingual worked for me. i have to do injections every two weeks for life. b12 deficiency causes all sorts of problems... it really makes a difference when i get shots. i have really bad depression and anxiety that maybe the b12 deficiency made worse/permanent nerve damage. im loco for sure. i think everyone who gets close to me realizes this tho.

speaking of transfusions, i am getting one on monday, and another two weeks later. all for a whole other problem.

thanks starla :) i hope it all helps too. its cool, i just find it fascinating how one problem or deficiency can be linked to causing so many problems and also help them all get worse. someday we will have robot bodies.

Starla 09-20-2013 02:40 AM

Glad to hear the glasses work for you. Transfusions are not fun. :/
