Grand Theft Auto V
so this shit is coming out in a few days...
gotta say I am feeling kinda wary. I was really stoked until I saw some streaming videos of guys playing leaked copies. The game looks beautiful, but the physics seem terrible. In GTA IV the cars slid around and felt like they had weight to them, like real vehicles. I'll reserve final judgement until I play it obviously, but from what I've seen, it looks like Rockstar took the driving physics backwards a whole generation. The cars zip around making perfect turns like something out of a racing game. Actually, they look like they move a lot like the shitty ass cars in LA Noire. Also, there seems to be no crash damage compared to GTA IV. Collisions that would have crushed cars in the previous game barely dent them in GTA V. Maybe I am making too much of a judgement based on videos of other people playing, but I am afraid at this point that bad physics will severely impact the gameplay experience. what do you guys think |
well overthought. you'll find out soon enough.
|
i heard you can smoke weed and fukc chicks in this game...sounds tight to me
if you aren't into it you are probably a faggot |
gta iv sucked shit
III and Vice City were the best |
I could not get into four. i'm really glad they're basically doing SA with better visuals
|
i'm not into GTA much but there's no other AAA blockbuster games coming out for awhile so i want to give it a shot... but i'll try to hold out for the PC version. i have a feeling i'll get it for my b-day next week and if so i'll crack it open... but ill have to clear like all of my 360's hard drive
|
definitely hold out for the pc
|
I still like playing GTA3 and Vice City on my PS2.
Couldn't get into 4, but I liked parts of it. 1979 was featured in it too, so that's a plus. 5 does looks sweet. |
Hate that it requires 8 gigs of space. Halo 4 did the same thing and I have one of the original 360's so my harddrive is only 20 gigs. Not sure if I'll be able to get it for 360 or not and I hate the PS3 controller, makes my hand cramp.

IV was the first GTA that I actually played in depth and not just when I was hanging out at my friend's house in middle school. I totally loved it so I guess I am kind of curious to see what all the fuss is about concerning a "return to form" or whatever
|
i think the rub with IV was it took itself too seriously
|
vice city will always be the apex
|
Red Dead Redemption was better than all of the grand theft autos. That is what has me most excited about GTA V is that they absolutely nailed it on RDR.

GTA isn't a driving sim and it isn't a physics-only sand box like Gary's Mod.
Making things like the driving too realistic or the collisions too realistic wouldn't be fun. Cars in real life don't go flying 40 feet across the air at 30 mph when they hit jumps or other cars. And they don't instantly catch on fire and they rarely explode. They just kind of slowly burn... The point is, realism in some games is boring. You don't play GTA for realism because it would ruin the game. In real life the cops would catch you. And you would die after a head-on collision. Anyhow, I think it looks pretty good. Should be the best GTA ever. http://i.imgur.com/QMgAksj.jpg |
yeah man I understand all that, but the fact remains that in IV the cars turned, accelerated, and generally moved in a fashion that feels like a real car. You had to sense the weight and handling of each vehicle to make judgements about maximum effective turning speed, when to use the handbrake, how much force will flip the car. Like I said, I will reserve judgement until I have played the game, but the videos I have seen look very disappointing in that the driving has become more simple, more universal for all the vehicles, and less impressive in general in terms of car damage and handling. If I wanted to play a game where the cars can make impossible 90 degree turns at 120 mph, I would play a racing game. Driving is obviously still the central tenet of GTA games, and I will feel very letdown if rockstar has made the driving idiot-proof to appease the morons who thought the cars in IV handled too realistically

I'm glorified white trash with an education.

Yeah a lot of people bitched about the driving and the way cars handled in IV but I really enjoyed, took a level of skill and made you put some effort into it. Online racing was probably my most played online mode of that game.
|
this reminds me, i gotta get EA 2014 Hockey. been playing the demo and the hardcore authentic (true play) is pretty legit. that game just keeps getting better.
|
Just cleared up my hard drive to make just enough room for this game on my 360. Sad to see so many paid for map packs gone forever. My justification for myself was that this will be the last game I buy for this generation and will likely buy one of the next gen consoles by the time Destiny comes out.

deleting content you paid for from your drive doesnt mean you have to pay for it again. you can download everything youve ever paid for again as many times as you want.
just something to think about. |
good
