I will admit that bars aren't that great, but man it really sucks when you're getting trashed with a friend in the comfort of one of your houses and they're like hey let's hit town and you're like okay and you go to some bar and you're like hey there's a band playing here and it's ten bucks so why the fuck not and it turns out to be not that good but whatever we can just find a table to sit at and chill out with a drink and then your friend is like I'M SO TIRED OF GOING TO THE BAR MY GOD THIS IS SO POINTLESS I JUST DON'T GET WHY PEOPLE NEED TO GET TOGETHER IN A DARK SPACE WITH INCREDIBLY LOUD MUSIC YOU CAN BARELY SPEAK OVER AND DRINK ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES TO HANG OUT IT'S ALL SO RANDOM

i went to the bar yesterday. it's around the corner and i walked.

I've come through to the other side of bar culture where I've now met my mate and had a couple of offspring and instead of going to bars we go to bbqs and drink. We were at one tonight, sat around drinking a nice pinot while paella was cooked. It was served with a fennel and orange salad, marinated olives, tomato salad, bocconcini, sourdough, and followed with pavlova, espresso and muscat. We talked about our upbringings. A couple of tapas places have opened up a 10 minute walk from here so we could go there if we had baby sitters. But it is just loud music and overpriced food and drink, and loud drunk people laughing too hard at stuff that isn't funny or flirting with each other. I'm not really into that any more.

Last night my football team lost the Grand Final (equivalent of the Super Bowl for you Americans) so my friends and I got shiiiiitfaced and someone was like hey let's go see a band and I thought they just meant at a pub or something but as it turned out it was at a friggin burlesque show so we rocked up and I was mad drunk and suddenly there was boobs and fire and all kinds of entertaining things and I wasn't quite sure how to take it given that i'm not much one for those sorts of places but we had some pretty great fun. I talked to the girl doing the coat room for half an hour and ended up giving her my phone number which pretty much says everything about my life right there.
|
i ended up having some beers last night. we don't really go to bars so much as just hang out at this one lounge/tapas place in the neighborhood. it's the go-to place since they have a/c upstairs and you can smoke and big comfy couches and boardgames. at least once a week a bunch of us end up there for a few pints and burgers to shoot the shit.
|
everyone says they're sick of bars, even those who are not.
|
"bars suck but they can be okay..."
|
Where is this brass ass place at?
|
I don't mind quiet pubs at all, where old people go to drink their day to an end. Like Cheers. That's a good bar.
But places with dim lighting and loud music and overpriced stuff and hot young staff I'm kinda over. I'm looking more for a Sammy/Woody/Carla sort of a deal. |
You know, because my days of being hot and young are over and I don't need to have that in my face all night, raining on my alcohol parade

what a unique perspective.

My hips are too wide from giving birth.

Oh I could care less about my hips! At least they make me look like a woman. It's my grey hairs and my boobs after breastfeeding two children two years each, and my dishpan hands from the house work, that make me self conscious...

Well it's up to you. Do what you want. I was trying to be helpful.
|
I'd turn right back around. Without specials, bars are just too expensive and you're wasting your time telling me otherwise.
|
What an uncommon persoective
