The College Football 2013/4 Thread

It's that time of year again. Discuss.

duovamp 08-28-2013 01:12 PM

Duquesne University is going to win the Super Bowl of college football. Mark my words.

jczeroman 08-28-2013 01:14 PM

I can't remember how many of my bold predictions I got right last time, but here we go again:

1) An SEC team will not win the title.

2) Ohio State will lose at least two games.

3) Lane Kiffin will be fired.

4) Oregon will lose at least three games.

5) This is finally the year that Clemson wins a BCS bowl.

6) Oklahoma will win the Big-12.

7) Notre Dame will lose to at least one of the following: Air Force, BYU or Navy.

8) Georgia will win the SEC east (not too bold, I know).

9) LSU will play in the BCS championship game.

10) There will be no 'BCS buster' this year.

hnibos 08-28-2013 01:20 PM

When was the last time you didn't make that first prediction?

Eulogy 08-28-2013 05:31 PM

Everything except #3 is pretty much insane.

ND loses to Stanford and then maybe one more.

Eulogy 08-28-2013 05:34 PM

Or maybe two more. 9-3 would be a disappointment though, for sure.

Eulogy 08-28-2013 05:36 PM

Shall we start with a few bold predictions?

A Big-10 team will play in the BCS title game (possibly Wisconsin).

The Pac-12 will not have two BCS bowl teams.

Texas will not finish in the top 25.

Boise State will go to a BCS bowl.

Jeff Tedford will be fired before next season.

The Big-12 will finish at the top of Sagarin's rankings.

LSU will not play in a BCS bowl.

Eulogy will predict that THIS IS THE YEAR FOR NOTRE BABY! and will be on suicide watch by week four.

Notre Dame goes 8-4, maybe 7-5. brutal schedule partially to blame. also mediocrity.

For the record. Whoops

Eulogy 08-28-2013 05:37 PM

Also predictions aside I'm just fucking excited for Saturday.

1. Alabama could probably beat a few NFL teams. It's their title to lose.

2. Ohio State loses one game: the BCS title game.

3. Very likely.

4. Without Chip Kelly at the helm, maybe.

5. Maybe.

6. Probably.

7. Not a chance.

8. *snort*

9. *double snort*

10. *triple snort*

sppunk 08-28-2013 05:59 PM

Texas maybe can run the football again, this excites me greatly.

Alabama @ A&M will get enormous hype, then Alabama will dominate and win by several TDs.

Alabama beats O$U is the championship game.

Penn State wins 7, their offense will be really fun to watch. Defense will suck due to no depth.

TuralyonW3 08-28-2013 08:08 PM

Half a game suspension LOL

redbull 08-28-2013 08:37 PM

my predictions:

illinois still sucks

the eulogy notre dame circlejerk makes this thread unreadable

Tchocky 08-29-2013 02:27 PM

The NCAA isn't gonna do shit to Johnny Foosball. Joe Average Football Player would be banned for at least 2 games for the shit he pulled, but you don't crack the whip on a superstar unless he turns into Aaron Hernandez.

Trotskilicious 08-29-2013 08:25 PM

is this organization still hoplessly corrupt and does the football program detract from academics and cost most schools money? Yes? well then i won't pay a lick of attention.

that will be my only post in this thread

hnibos 08-29-2013 08:53 PM

They just suspended johnny football for half a game, I think they're good.

Not sure what this even means.

But yes Illinois will suck. As will most of the conference. Hope someone manages to beat OSU though. Christ.

That is my 'heart' prediction, I admit it.

Admittedly, that was terrible. Honestly though, everyone thought Notre Dame was going to lose five games last year.

jczeroman 08-29-2013 10:42 PM

Clowney should be stripped off all Heisman watch lists. Some of his rushes tonight looked like he was playing in the pro-bowl. Terrible.

jczeroman 08-29-2013 10:43 PM

Also South Carolina should be punished in the rankings for playing so terribly against a crap team.

Eulogy 08-29-2013 10:59 PM

Didn't see it but they jumped out to 17-3 in the first quarter so who can really complain

Eulogy 08-29-2013 11:04 PM

Also no I don't think many people thought Notre dame would go 7-5. 9-3 or 8-4, sure.

Eulogy 08-30-2013 10:13 AM

And clowney was ill apparently. And UNC averaged 3.7 yards per play.

TuralyonW3 08-31-2013 12:15 AM

Always love the zany week 1 upsets (nd state over Kansas state)

jczeroman 08-31-2013 09:48 AM

Also, USC should be dropped too. That was hideous.

jczeroman 08-31-2013 09:50 AM

The thing that always drives me crazy about the early season is that polls should be COMPLETELY redone after each of the first few weeks. Teams that win shouldn't move up and teams that lose shouldn't move down because the preseason rankings were simply pulled out of the sky. They are meaningless once there are actual games to go by.

Eulogy 08-31-2013 10:36 AM

that is true but i think you're reading too much into eye tests from opening week.

Eulogy 08-31-2013 10:43 AM

and USC won 30-13 and at one point scored 27 unanswered points?

i'm beginning to think you don't really have any idea what you're talking about when it comes to this sport? you're very knee-jerky

Eulogy 08-31-2013 10:44 AM

ND by 32

GO IRISH

Eulogy 08-31-2013 10:50 AM

take away a garbage time (30 seconds left!) 60 yard TD and hawaii has 171 total yards

ND State is extremely good.

MyOneAndOnly 08-31-2013 06:21 PM

Michigan up by 50 at the beginning of the 4th. It looks like they're playing a high school team.

Trotskilicious 08-31-2013 07:17 PM

oh you're even a michigan fan

For the first quarter and a half, USC looked completely inept against a terrible team. They had a burst of good football for about 10 total minutes of that game. A team like that doesn't belong anywhere near the top 25.

jczeroman 08-31-2013 11:22 PM

I'm sorry to say it, but Washington looks dangerous. And Oregon State embarrasses itself again.

Eulogy 08-31-2013 11:38 PM

Oh my god fuck off trots

Eulogy 08-31-2013 11:41 PM

This will be your only post my ass. Jesus Christ.
