FSU beats Clemson by two touchdowns.

If you don't think Georgia is the best one loss team then what sells you on Clemson?

jczeroman 10-06-2013 07:40 PM

Offense is good. Good leadership. solid D. Most importantly, they've at least beat a good team, which Oregon really hasn't. Florida State destroyed a ranked team (although we don't really know how good Maryland is) and looks dominant.

jczeroman 10-07-2013 11:13 PM

Teams that have actually done something this year:

Stanford
Alabama
Florida State
Clemson
UCLA
Ohio State (kind of)
OU (kind of)

TuralyonW3 10-12-2013 12:54 PM

So Texas is playing awesome

sppunk 10-12-2013 02:48 PM

Who is this team in burnt orange??!

Hook 'em!

TuralyonW3 10-12-2013 03:18 PM

OU hasn't had a single deep ball.

jczeroman 10-12-2013 09:27 PM

Oh Stanford...

sppunk 10-12-2013 09:47 PM

lol at Michigan

jczeroman 10-12-2013 10:31 PM

Michigan was destined for that. They were probably the worst of the undefeated teams.

jczeroman 10-12-2013 10:35 PM

Georgia should have never been in the top 15, and they clearly shouldn't even be in the top 25, but who else thinks that they will only be dropped to number 11 or so on Monday?

Eulogy 10-13-2013 08:13 AM

You seriously have no concept of how many good teams there are in college football, do you?

jczeroman 10-13-2013 09:17 AM

We are only just now starting to figure that out. My point is that teams like Georgia get preferential treatment due to early speculation about how good they might be.

Eulogy 10-13-2013 01:08 PM

They came within a field goal of beating the team you think is best in the country or whatever.

There just doesn't appear to be logical consistency here. There are definitely not 25 teams better than Georgia.

I don't know who the best team is. Based upon results through this week, we are looking at Oregon or Alabama I think.

I think we need to go based upon what has actually happened on the field. I haven't seen 25 other teams, but Georgia does not look like the top 15 teams that I've seen in the past.

Granted, I picked them to win their division, but it became apparent after their first game that they were not good enough to be in the top 15. I'm sure they'll only lose about six places this week however. After all, they're in the ALWAYS-THE-BEST-WITHOUT-QUESTION SEC where half the conference is ranked no matter how bad the teams actually play on the field.

jczeroman 10-19-2013 07:54 PM

I can hear it now: "Georgia's loss to Auburn just shows how deep the SEC is."

POWER RANKINGS BOOST FOR ALL SEC TEAMS AFTER THAT AMAZING PERFORMANCE BY AUBURN KNOCKING OFF A TOP-10 TEAM LIKE GEORGIA.

Eulogy 10-20-2013 12:26 AM

Clemson is the best team in the country though.

Hm.

Eulogy 10-20-2013 12:27 AM

The PAC 12 is fucking miserable. Stanford lost to Utah. Notre Dame has beaten two teams in a row. So.

Eulogy 10-20-2013 12:27 AM

And Notre Dame was lucky to gain 47 yards in the second half. Holy shit.

TuralyonW3 10-20-2013 01:35 AM

Time for Bama Oregon FSU OSU bcs controversy fuckfest.

Eulogy 10-20-2013 05:27 PM

OSU is obviously out

You mispelled Baylor.

To date, Clemson had a decent resume. No question that all got exposed. The loss to FSU was more than just a bad individual matchup from Clemson.

Are you disputing my points about this year's SEC teams by diverting the discussion to the Pac-12? Because I'm not sure how that works.

were you not implying that the SEC is not the best conference in the country? there is no other conference to take its place right now. pre-season i'd have said the pac 12. but lol, not anymore.

jczeroman 10-20-2013 08:21 PM

There is one top tier team in that conference. The rest are not even in tier 2 (*maybe* Mizzou is).

That is a far cry from what they have been in recent years.

Eulogy 10-20-2013 08:26 PM

...but you didn't really answer my question. Which conference is better?

jczeroman 10-20-2013 09:49 PM

No conferences are better. We can't measure conferences in this way. We can only measure teams within conferences. Crikey, do people not remember anything older than 2 minutes on here?

I banged my head against the wall on this topic last in here:

Oh but we can. You judge the individual teams and then decide which conference has the best/most good teams.

Like I can say with some confidence that the pac 12 fucking blows this year

Eulogy 10-20-2013 10:12 PM

because none of the teams in it are good.

Trotskilicious 10-24-2013 01:22 AM

No one who actually likes sports cares about college football right now.
