I will miss having ND as a guaranteed quality opponent for UM. It did add legitimacy to U of M's schedule. I agree with Drew Sharp of the Detroit Free Press that Michigan will need to replace ND with another big-name school.

I would say that yes right now the acc is better. The big ten is really bad these days. And regardless, ND will only play 5 ACC games and will still be playing USC and Stanforf and MSU every year. They have Texas coming up. OU again this year. ND doesn't need Michigan to make a schedule that isn't a joke. Michigan needs ND. That's why they're so bitter I think.

Then why are they playing MSU? MSU is typically a weaker team than Michigan. and i can't believe that playing MSU gets them more viewers on TV.

Because they've played MSU every single year forever. Same with Purdue and Navy.

I would like to drop Purdue but it's not too terrible to have one bad team thrown in every year. Better than scheduling Akron.

Because the TV contracts are a huge part of the business. I agree, though, about Purdue. Kind of a pointless game. I've always thought that the MSU game was more of a rivalry for MSU than it was for ND. MSU has a built in inferiority complex, though. Every team they think they have a rivalry with cares a hell of a lot less about it than they do. Ask an MSU fan about the UofM game and they'll say it's the most important game of the season. Ask a UofM fan and they'll say the Ohio game is.
