we're currently taking care of a blind and deaf miniature pischer

his owner (our friend's grandmother) kicked the bucket a couple weeks ago, and we're providing a temporary home until our friend moves into a place that allows pets.

dogs and their general neediness trigger panic attacks for me, but our friends were in a desperate situation so we offered to help.

im going crazy.

Bread Regal 02-01-2013 08:58 PM

i dont dislike dogs. but their desperate desire for attention is never sated.

Bread Regal 02-01-2013 08:58 PM

and i have like, shit to do, man.

Can you even train a deafblind dog? You can hardly let it read your lips.

Trotskilicious 02-01-2013 09:00 PM

it's okay if you shoo them off.

Bread Regal 02-01-2013 09:01 PM

i dont know. this is my wife's undertaking and right now my only goal is to keep him from pissing on our week old mattress.

Bread Regal 02-01-2013 09:02 PM

do you think they named Wawa after Helen Keller's first word?

Trotskilicious 02-01-2013 09:03 PM

sounds like a very silly dog really

Bread Regal 02-01-2013 09:05 PM

hes cute as fuck and kind of goose steps around waves his snout in the air. like if stevie wonder was a nazi.

Bread Regal 02-01-2013 09:20 PM

i should also mention that he has separation anxiety and destroyed our bathroom in a matter of hours.

Trotskilicious 02-01-2013 09:22 PM

yeah i imagine you're probably not pro kennel

Bread Regal 02-01-2013 11:05 PM

we're not opposed to it. but it's possible to do it to the wrong dog. it's generally not a good idea for a dog with separation anxiety.

Trotskilicious 02-01-2013 11:35 PM

that's completely contrary to what i read, as well as how chauncey got over it.

Trotskilicious 02-01-2013 11:36 PM

i mean it wasn't the kenneling maybe but it did keep him from going berzerker

he only needed it for 6 mos maybe now he's fine to be alone

Depends on lifestyle. I love dogs, but am not home enough to have one. Cats (the good ones) are more awesome because they have more personality IMO.

John, good on you for this endeavor.
