Yeah I know how you mean. I work at a hotel that has two giant conference centers. We have contracts with three different churches: white people church, black people church and island people church. Generally speaking - no problems. Afterall I work security, what kind of problems can really arise from groups of worship, right?

White church (Sheperd's Will):: no problems, I don't even see these assholes. They do worship at like what? 6am? Dicks. But no problems.

Black church (New Upper Zion): Later in the day, still don't see them. Gone and done praying to the lord before 4pm (nice cars)

Island church (Full Gospel): Dicks. Straight up cunts. New Upper Zion actually had to move to another building because these fucks would worship so loud that they couldn't hear their own praise. And I actually had to go into to their session and tell them to turn it down. Yeah, they were all cool until I left and put it even louder than before. Ultimately it ended in a battle of seething language between my bosd and them. And that was like seven months ago. One time I watched their kids hurl a football into a benz from another group and they got all aggro when I told them to go inside. Like, wtf? Religion my ass.

you can hear the call to prayer pretty much anywhere in the city, 6 times a day. at home it's not so bad but at work we're so close to the mosque that if we're out having a smoke on the balcony, we have to stop our conversation till its over.

It's usually the shittiest musicians that make the most noise. My church sings hymns accompanied by organ. last sunday I played the organ myself! You could have made plenty of complaints about my playing but probably not about the volume.

i'm almost offended by talk about an "island church" but my mother who is a full blooded, born-in-Samoa-Samoan, hates island churches, never took us, told us churches were horrible places that took your money and you didn't need to go to one to be a Christian. I like hearing Islanders sing but yeah I'm not really into the church.

You know, thinking about it incredibly awful smells could be effective crowd control. They should use it for bank robberies.

in boston i lived next door to a black Episcopal church. i got used to the bells every hour and on the weekends they had a group that played steel drums. i loved it.

My church gets noise complaints from a neighbour - not because you can hear the service from outside but from when we all go to our cars afterwards.

The same neighbour cranks up metal every week when we're arriving...

after i graduated college i lived above this place called the lord's gym for about a year. it was a baptist themed hardcore gym that i believe also catered to ex-addicts. at least everyone who i talked to had a really checkered past (though that was all behind them now). anyway beyond the constant weightlifting mixed with praise on sundays they would have sessions in the courtyard where the guys would do feats of strength as testament to their worship, the sort of things you would see on tv like ripping phone books in half and breaking cinder blocks and such. i worked until 4 in the morning on sundays so i was usually still up while all this was happening but on the days i was trying to sleep it was a disaster.

tl;dr - i once wanted a church to keep it down

I'm at my friend's house killing time waiting for him to wake up. I don't know why, but I'm watching Religious Programming on TV. It's a less infuriating background distraction than the pop music video channel.
