meangreensp 11-21-2012 12:58 PM

I'm not religious.

But religion doesn't really change. The book is there. Science is always changing. Einstein's theory of relativity was thought to be concrete, but was proven wrong. Just an example.

duovamp 11-21-2012 01:30 PM

Who proved it wrong?

Order 66 11-21-2012 01:38 PM

god

duovamp 11-21-2012 01:39 PM

Ipso facto.

Really

duovamp 11-21-2012 02:51 PM

Dead. Wrong.

duovamp 11-21-2012 02:59 PM

Just like that idiot Copernicus.

pavementtune 11-21-2012 03:09 PM

To be fair, last year it looked like it. What was it, CERN experiment? However, this year they couldn't prove their own discovery, so it's still 1:0 for Einstein.

duovamp 11-21-2012 03:14 PM

They were unsuccessful in velocitating neutrinos faster than the speed of light, as predicted.

pavementtune 11-21-2012 03:19 PM

So? Nothing wrong in trying.

duovamp 11-21-2012 03:21 PM

so u think ur all Star Wars bc u know about relativity?

Order 66 11-21-2012 03:34 PM

miracles up in this bitch

It was an example. I never followed up on it. But science is ever changing. Religion is based on faith, so despite evidence they insist it's just a way to test their religion. There's nothing wrong with what he said.

duovamp 11-21-2012 07:52 PM

I heard a sea monster ate New York. Never really followed up on it but fact is the city's destroyed right now.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to duovamp again.

so why are they asking scientific questions of someone who is not a scientist? does it seriously matter what a politician believes on this issue? i think that's what he's saying. what does that have to do with immigration or economic or foreign policies?

this is the nonsense media so many of you are in love with.

"WTF does fucking science have to do with anything?" - Nimrod's Son

duovamp 11-24-2012 11:21 AM

Separation of science and state.

Future Boy 11-24-2012 04:04 PM

actually i agree with Nim in that its a bit of a bullshit question, and obama essentially gave the same answer in 2008.

i was talking about the next GOP hope stumbling over such an expected bullshit question.

Order 66 11-24-2012 04:13 PM

obama also didnt know if the world was created in 7 days?

Future Boy 11-24-2012 04:16 PM

Barack Obama: I’m trying to remember if we’ve had this conversation. What I’ve said to them is that I believe that God created the universe and that the six days in the Bible may not be six days as we understand it — it may not be 24-hour days. And that’s what I believe. I know there’s always a debate between those who read the Bible literally and those who don’t, and that I think is a legitimate debate within the Christian community of which I’m a part. You know, my belief is that the story the Bible tells about God creating this magnificent Earth on which we live, that that is essentially true, that is fundamentally true. Now, whether it happened exactly as we might understand it reading the text of the Bible? That, you know, I don’t presume to know.

dear repubs, ^ thats how you answer that question. if you absolutely must point out that you are not a scientist at the very least resist the urge to say it twice.

apparently

Future Boy 11-24-2012 04:18 PM

but he's not a scientist

Future Boy 11-24-2012 04:20 PM

not at all surprising to see Obama give the perfect repub answer

Future Boy 11-24-2012 04:22 PM

of course that was way back in 2008, by now he personally doesnt think it did but its up to each state to decide on its own

It seriously does matter, particularly to the religious. At least one question at the most recent debate was "How important a role does religion play in your life?" or something to that effect, because a lot of people care about that shit.

It's not a matter of being a scientist, its a matter of possessing a worldview that is grounded in rational thought. There's nothing wrong with believing that "god" works his magic through natural phenomena. There is absolutely something wrong with saying the earth is 6,000 years old

killtrocity 11-24-2012 07:18 PM

There's something wrong with the political process when you can't give a plainly logical answer without being crucified by your electorate

my point was there was nothing inherently wrong about rubio's answer to a question that was a total set up

Yeah politics and science never ever interact in any meaningful way
