five phone numbers in the last four months
 

The first one was a girl I met at a party in late June. I was supposed to be her teamate for a game of beer pong. She turned out to be an attorney with a very busy schedule. She told me she likes to text more than talk on the phone. She didn't reply to my text for two and a half months. I hear from her occasionally. Still haven't gone out with her.

The second one was a girl I met at my summer job in July. I still haven't called her and I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that she has a kid.

The third one was a couple of weeks ago. A girl approached me while I was waiting for a train on my way home from work. She turned out to be kind of a hippie bohemian type who had only been in the DC area five months and who was working as a waitress. She told me she didn't believe that people with schizophrenia and depression should be medicated and that she generally looked down upon western society and had a lot of admiration for the tribal native people of America and tribal black people from Africa and Australia. She also told me she liked to write about the corruption of large corporations. I spoke with her twice on the phone and still haven't heard back from her.

The fourth one was also a couple of weeks ago at a lounge/bar my friend invited me to that was celebrating it's second anniversary. She had taken a strong interest in a friend of mine but he wasn't feeling her and eventually got up and left. I kind of swooped in and chatted her up for a while and never told her that I knew him. Somehow I didn't manage to save her number in my phone when I got it. I must have been kind of tipsy.

The fifth one was earlier this week at work. A girl who works as an aide for the emotionally disturbed program at my school. I needed something from one of the security guards and I found her and the girl was with her. I was kind of rude to the girl not really acknowledging her. I returned later to apologize and introduced myself and after I left apparently she told the security guard that she wanted me to take her out. So we spoke after work and I should be going out with her soon.

What does this all mean?

I actually had deleted the first one's number and then when she finally responded to me I put her back in my phone.

The third one has been deleted for a week or so.

One time i got a woman's phone number because she knew i was too drunk to put it into my phone correctly. It's just too bad that she was right.

I can't imagine what any of this is like...I would have been rejected so much if I had tried to get phone numbers from the guys I liked but I knew that to begin with so I just didn't bother. And then I was discovered by the fringe dwelling nerds.

Yeah pretty much. They were music nerds though...and never went to community college, because you know, they came from rich educated families like everyone else I knew. But that's basically it...

It's helped me to have friends that are more extroverted and outgoing than I am. Because otherwise I wouldn't be invited to parties or go to bars and lounges.

I can't imagine that either. I always wanted to be demure and shy but I was always loud and opinionated.

I have friends who can't go to cafes or movies by themselves...I think as a smoker and coffee drinker and movie lover I just never thought about it. It was something I wanted to do all the time so I just did it...it didn't occur to me that people didn't do that on their own.

I never tried getting numbers.

I don't like hanging out in a coffee house alone. But going to the movies alone is the best. I almost got into a fight one night at Harry Potter w/ someone who was on their phone. Then at LOTR the Two Towers. I will not put up with ppl on their phones at movies.
