Firefox is no longer compatable with Mac OS 10.5
 

If I just keep using it, am I putting myself in serious danger of wrecking my computer w/o the new security updates and such? Is there an equally good browser that is still functional with older Mac operating systems?

no. there isn't. Nothing that'll work as well as Firefox. What Mac are you using.

I used a Mac G4 for almost 7 years. I got to that point where you probably are now and ended up buying a new Mac desktop. Once you can't update the OS performance starts to suffer. I noticed it first with the web browser.

You're probably OK using Safari.

i generally use chrome, but occasionally certain web sites just... won't work.

netflix streams don't work, united airlines check in, the site i have to use to download exam software, a couple random places i've ordered clothes from, rachel maddow's show page.

kind of annoying. but it's not too difficult to just open safari when i need to do one of those things.
