i'm not really up to speed here -- do we know if TAFH will be reissued? some of the extra songs for MCIS reissue seem to cover that territory..

maybe they've put them on the MCIS one to make a shorter Aeroplane reissue?

Turning the thread back to hilarious Monte related discussion, can someone with an iPhone please start a kickstarer campaign to get an "I think we're alone now" style Monte documentary going? Please.

TAFH reissue doesn't make sense. tell Billy. Also the MCIS price is insane. If it is more than 60 dollars then I won't buy it. 130 dollars for fucking CD's in 2012 is insane

I'm sure it won't actually end up costing that much. The only bearing we have on price right now is the Amazon listing, which will probably end up fluctuating.

That assumption aside - it sounds like what we're getting is far more than the little box along the lines of the Gish or Siamese reissue: "It all comes housed in a 12 x 12 lift-top box with magnetic closure, reimagined cover art and velvet-lined disc holder. The package includes 2 books containing personal notes, lyrics, new collage artwork, plus a Decoupage kit for creating your own scenes from the MELLON COLLIE universe." This is going to be a box set in the true sense of the word... so if it's around $100, that doesn't seem outrageous to me.

for realsies i am interested in this reissue but the way the last one was handled (and the lack of reassurance that it won't happen again) i am full of doubt

wHATcOLOR 10-10-2012 02:23 PM

What the heck is a Decoupage kit

jimmy drevpile 10-10-2012 02:50 PM

Presumably something 'soccer moms' are in to.

You glue down picture with Elmers glue.

Quote:

Decoupage (or découpage) is the art of decorating an object by gluing colored paper cutouts onto it in combination with special paint effects, gold leaf and so on. Commonly an object like a small box or an item of furniture is covered by cutouts from magazines or from purpose-manufactured papers. Each layer is sealed with varnishes (often multiple coats) until the "stuck on" appearance disappears and the result looks like painting or inlay work. The traditional technique used 30–40 layers of varnish which were then sanded to a polished finish. This was known in 18th century England as the art of Japanning after its presumed origins.

Odds are it'll just be a piece of card with the new cover background and a sheet of stickers.

you forgot that he lived in a teepee for a month with Neil Young and Harvey Keitel.

I'd rather have an affordable $50 CD package and billy can keep his stickers.

Tired of paying an extra $100 for boxsets with silly crap in them, Pink Floyd can keep their damn scarves and marbles. Around this time last year when I was about to drop about $500 on a bunch of overpriced boxsets I realized how disgusting and exploitative it is and refuse to buy them now.

Cool artists have been fighting this trend:

http://articles.nydailynews.com/2011...ello-patagonia

Billy being the whore he is jumped on this just like he did when he killed the box store exclusive trend with his rainbow over indulgence.

So according to Monte, it turns out Lover (Arrangement 1 demo) is actually an early demo of Lover, Lover the LICD song. Surprised Bill's going out of his way to showcase some Iha songs.

Discussing Monte and your personal disdain or appreciation for him or his religion is not SP-related.

Sound good? Good.

dude just let it go.

Bahhhh, fully agree. That was one of the songs I was most looking forward to on this release. Guess we'll hopefully get it on Adore or Machina?

Kinda bummed that was already spoiled for me - but I guess I'd rather have that hope dashed NOW than when I threw in the disc and was hoping for it, only to get an early Iha version.

Grox 10-11-2012 11:43 AM

So why the Iha tunes?

Surely BC wouldn't be petty enough to attempt to reappropriate LICD songs as Pumpkins songs. HMM

whywontyoulistn 10-11-2012 02:23 PM

This is probably his response to all the criticism he got for the "James is a piece of shit" stuff; "Oh, I don't get along with him personally, but I am a big enough man to put that aside and admit it when the music is that good blah blah aren't I wonderful/forgiving/mature (unlike that cunt die James die.)".

I think it's pretty clear that these LICD songs were left over MCIS songs that never made the album.

Now I see Billco's point on releasing them on MCIS reissue. "His solo album was composed of a couple turds too awful to be included on MCIS. Terrible person"

Some interview he did around the time Oceania came out, he claimed it was very hard for him to put these on the resissue due to his personal problems with James, but stated they were good songs and he said something along the lines of "it showed James did more than just sit and mope at the studio."

Although many of the songs on Iha's first solo album apparently date back to the early 1990s, I would not be surprised if, as Astur stated, that this is his way of saying that his songs were too shitty to make the final cut.
