im buying the battlestar gallactica board game

is noise cancelling a must? for 100 bucks you can get Grado SR 80s. probably the best sounding headphones around for that price, but it's open ear technology.
|
i don't know anything about noise cancelling, open ear, etc. im very ignorant on the topic
|
ear buds aren't as good as head phones
|
get a nice turntable instead
and some bookshelf or stand up speakers for it |
Koss porta pros
|
They're cheap and work pretty well but those ones you linked are good too so just get those
|
i'd look into senheiser
really wicked earphones, and they're pretty diverse price range wise so you're likely to find something to suit you |

Anyway, yeah, Grado Prestige Series SR 80s sound beautiful. I've never owned a more expensive pair than this affordable hundred dollar set, but when I went to the audio place to pick them out, I couldn't discern a significant difference in sound quality with the higher end models until you get into the $350-500 price range. http://www.amazon.com/Grado-Prestige...ds=grado+sr+80 http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg |

don't listen to redbreegull. noise cancelling headphones work by monitoring outside noise and producing an inverted, delayed copy of that through the earphone so that some of the noise making its way through your headphones and into your ears is cancelled. they don't project that inverted signal outward.
open-ear headphones are good for listening in quiet environments where you're not likely to disturb anyone else. they are not good for isolation. i imagine they produce a clearer sound because they are open to the air and can equalize front/back pressure relatively quickly |
