scotty what are you talking about

Clinton is the liberal Reagan except that instead of fucking us over with ideological bullshit, he was pretty moderate and sailed us mostly through smooth waters

Among some conservatives Reagan wasn't nicknamed 'Red Ronnie' for nothing...

Clinton sailed nothing. What y'all will come to understand is that the fiat paper printing of the Fed Reserve since Nixon took the dollar off the gold standard has ultimately created this massive near Quadrillion dollar black hole of debt. Over the decades the central banks would choose certain sectors and pump and dump (tech, real estate, never-ending war machine)...and here we are up shit Keynesian creek river without a paddle, boat,.

And if your life preserver is the government...your screwed.

Which brings me to the other misguided naive' who is so brainwashed he says useful idiot stuff like this:

If Obama is reelected he will become the progressive Ronald Reagan. Not just in that he'll be held up as an example of a "winner" for the next generation or more of democrats. But also in that he makes a compelling and effective counter argument to the conservative call for "smaller government".

it's something that Bill Clinton wasn't really able to do.

thanks johnnybrownshirt (new name 4U)...

its o.k. It's not by accident your intellectually impotent, so there's hope for deprogramming yet.

seriously though..."smaller government", "big government"...semantics. Mathematics holds that a government job CANNOT be created at a tax-surplus. While denigrating those in the private sector who create the revenue, Obama's class envy-war rhetoric can only assume he wishes to wither away the nation for the sake of the government.

out of curiosity, why do you think it is? You usually have some of the most jaundiced views of Obama around here, so do you think he's actually trying to snub israel or what

There was never a request for Prime Minister Netanyahu to meet with President Obama in Washington, nor was a request for a meeting ever denied,” the statement also read.

...

Opposition leader Shaul Mofaz on Tuesday said he does not expect that Israel will take military action against Iran this year. Instead of making a decision on Iran, the opposition leader said, Netanyahu is busy subverting Obama.

Mofaz went on to accuse Netanyahu of meddling in the upcoming US presidential elections, which he described as “irresponsible behavior and an error that harms the fabric of relations with [Israel’s] biggest ally.”

i just think it leaves an open line of attack, as legit as it may be. dont think its an intentional snub, they probably just see no benefit from it.

wtf was he and his campaign thinking?

Quote:

Mitt Romney's sharply-worded attack on President Obama over a pair of deadly riots in Muslim countries last night has backfired badly among foreign policy hands of both parties, who cast it as hasty and off-key, released before the facts were clear at what has become a moment of tragedy.

Romney keyed his statement to the American Embassy in Cairo's condemnation of an anti-Muslim video that served as the trigger for the latest in a series of regional riots over obscure perceived slights to the faith. But his statement — initially embargoed to avoid release on September 11, then released yesterday evening anyway — came just before news that the American Ambassador to Libya had been killed and broke with a tradition of unity around national tragedies, and of avoiding hasty statements on foreign policy. It was the second time Romney has been burned by an early statement on a complex crisis: Romney denounced the Obama Administration's handling of a Chinese dissident's escape just as the Administration negotiated behind the scenes for his departure from the country.

I wish my exchangeable medium were tied to the perceived worth of a metal that sits on an open market. Things made so much more sense then.

MyOneAndOnly 09-12-2012 01:34 PM

it's hard to take seriously anything someone says on economics when they start the conversation with "let's fill-up Fort Knox with gold!"

that sentiment is usually followed by "USA out of the UN Now!" And it keeps going downhill from there.

duovamp 09-12-2012 02:41 PM

Look, I want a solid bar of gold at home that my cheques reference because it feels good. I like knowing I have a slab of purposeless material sitting around all day, just in case. Excuse me for loving my country like the founding fathers.

Proving you can't handle the analysis and arguments I present. It's out of your league. You're too entrenched in a belief system instead of a critical thought process.

Once again, nice and slow so you and the other under 100IQ voters can understand:

The Government. Cannot. Create Jobs. At. A. Tax. Surplus. All Utopian ideals crumble under this reality...but that doesn't stop the feel first, think last do-gooders who can't understand the simple math.

The call for a new gold commission was hailed by the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal and in a Forbes.com column as a sign that the gold standard is going mainstream.

http://nationalinterest.org/commenta...ainstream-7451

from the WSJ:

Quote:

An under-reported development of this campaign season is the Republican Party's decision this week to send Gov. Mitt Romney into the presidential race on a platform effectively calling for a new gold commission. The realization that America's system of fiat money is part of its economic problem is moving from the fringes of political discussion to the center.

This is a sharp contrast from the last time a gold commission was convened, in 1981, a decade after President Nixon abandoned the Bretton Woods system and opened the era of a fiat dollar. The 1981 commission recommended against restoring a gold basis to the dollar. But two members—Congressman Ron Paul and businessman-scholar Lewis Lehrman—dissented and outlined the case for gold.

but hey...the Fiat thing is working out so well...bring on QE 3...nevermind the inflation, move along, nothing to see here.

Presuming i'm right wing, which I am not.

Hey Nimrod, fuckhead, calling me racist. Look, don't be foolish...that brown skin that scotty is saying the right wing want out of the country...that's my skin color. I've never wanted anyone out of this country for the color of their skin...there is no counterpart here between scotty and myself...

he's too entrenched in belief systems when those things belie the truth. You have to suspend your disbelief, which the likes of redbreegull and scotty couldn't even begin to understand -- to then, think critically and analyze what the fuck is really going on in our political system.

Ouch!

MyOneAndOnly 09-12-2012 05:54 PM

I suspect that the next 8 weeks of campaigning are going to be filled with Romney gaffs, either because his campaign staff and advisors suck, or because he's trying to get out of the hole he's dug himself by attacking every chance he gets. That can make him look desperate, though.

I'm starting to question whether or not he's trying to tank this thing, like it suddenly hit him how much is actually involved in being president and he want's out. Did anyone see this mornings press conference? He had the look of a man who knew he was making an ass of himself but was determined to keep doing it.
