MyOneAndOnly 06-01-2012 03:00 PM

were these promo vinyl copies mixed/mastered any differently from the digital versions?

Cool As Ice Cream 06-01-2012 03:38 PM

^ wtf?

DeadOpera 06-01-2012 03:44 PM

i think he means those bootleg copies... and if they are sourced from the q101 rips of their vinyl.

or he's clueless to the fact that the digital versions come from the vinyl promo's to begin with.

this..

I thought they were different

DeadOpera 06-01-2012 04:21 PM

nope, that's why the quality isn't that great and it'll be awesome to have the reissues of it. I think it'll sell really well compared to most of the other reissues.

Although we already have a few songs from MII from J.0. lucky 13, real love, slow dawn sourced from the master tapes.

MII try try try is on the untitled single.

MyOneAndOnly 06-01-2012 04:24 PM

yes. the only reissue that's really needed, IMO.

marce 06-01-2012 05:26 PM

i don't know if anyone noticed but cash car star, in my body & lucky 13 can be played from http://www.smashingpumpkins.com/albums/machinaii/

i was hoping they were sourced from the master tapes, but they sound like the q101 versions to me...

Though the mastering is really crushed and clipped. I prefer the vinyl source.

bs1933 06-01-2012 08:26 PM

I'm just gonna wait and buy it on lp AND cd next year when the reissue is released lol

or there indeed was a q101 auction, and her boyfriend not only bought machina II, but also this APC award, and gave both to her.

is there a way to find out if the seller is the same person that is mentioned on the APC award (mary shuminas - q101)?

Rocket Launcher 06-02-2012 09:05 AM

you're contradicting yourself, CAIC. First you say "why does she make an effort to convince others that it is not fake", now you say it'S very likely to be the real thing. yet billy comments about the missing provenance, and the pictures do tell that there is no hand-numbering on the lps and thinks it's a fake. So this is all quite unclear to me.

Rocket Launcher 06-02-2012 09:27 AM

nice research of you, though. by the way, a little researching on the bidders side might reveal this thread to them. so with luck it can go pretty high still. it's already over 8k 1 day before the end, so...

Cool As Ice Cream 06-02-2012 09:49 AM

but that's the thing: we don't know what the real thing looks like, numbering-wise.
maybe she's not mentioning the number in an attempt to reduce the possible shitstorm?

anyway, i wouldn't pay for this if i wasn't 100% certain that is was real. (and i wouldn't pay +$8000 either way. i'd rather spend that amount money on other things.)
and i'm not 100% convinced it's real. or that her (old) story is true.
but if i had to guess, i'd say it's real. i'd be surprised if this was a fake.

It's probably Billy

marce 06-02-2012 05:38 PM

the auction was cancelled on Jun-02-12 at 11:33:32 PDT by seller... again... this time it got to $8,000 but still with a day left

i have to admit that all the craziness around machina ii has always fascinated me

Monet LSD 06-02-2012 06:21 PM

I have always wondered what the thought process was on the initial auction being cancelled after bids reached $10,000 (and now on this one, being cancelled when the bids got upwards of $8,000). Is it because they realized they owned something that is way more valuable than they had originally thought, and decided to just hang onto it? Is it because they thought, based on the monetary bids it was already receiving, that they should keep it even longer and let it increase in value? Or are they just putting it up for auction to get an idea of its value? I don't get it.

DeadOpera 06-02-2012 07:29 PM

ha totally knew it was going to be canceled again. This time I bet BC called her and told her she was a pig and he was going to sue her.

DeadOpera 06-02-2012 07:31 PM

highest bid was $10 000.01

Sorry but I had to pull this listing ... Even though I obtained this item
legitimately I didnt realize that Billy Corgan would have a problem with
the selling of it. I dont want to upset him. I didnt realize it would be
such a big deal.

In all fairness you had to wonder how she would expect him to react to her getting $10,000 + for something he gave away for free.

Cool As Ice Cream 06-03-2012 02:11 PM

none of her business.
billy's been really crybaby about this. "oh it's fake", "oh they can't sell it", "wah wah wah".

Pssshhhfffft. Wow.

Could he legally have really done anything? The seller was the owner of the item, regardless of whether he liked it or not.

lets just say he submitted a lawsuit. that would be a lot trouble to deal with for the seller that they would likely not want to face.

The album was a gift from Billy to this person. No contracts were signed.

NEXT.

what an asshole. filing a suit knowing the person can't afford to defend themselves so he gets what he wants by default. there is no way he'd win that suit if it actually went to court.

corgan is much more negative and shitty than all of netphoria combined

MyOneAndOnly 06-03-2012 06:50 PM

what's to keep one of the bidders from contacting her and giving her the money she's owed?

Netphorian Gadabout 06-03-2012 08:01 PM

I was the high-bidder for several days the first time this lady put it up for auction, and was able to get her phone number and full name thru ebay. In playing middleman for pmack and her conversation, pmack and I concluded it was a real copy. She was able to answer questions about the item that are not public knowledge, and I was able to trace back her ownership story. I still have the communications with pmack saved in my private messages.

EDIT: Wait, I missed where CAIC quoted my posts on this several years back. I have nothing new to add then, but to stress is the strongest possible terms that she was able to answer in mere seconds things about the records that are simply not public knowledge.

it's funny how he bitches that this place is so negative but in reality he is the king, which is actually fitting

Shallowed 06-03-2012 11:34 PM

You're right, if anything it's not hypocritical, it's... perfect. He can't not bitch about Netphoria being a big bitchfest otherwise he wouldn't be the biggest bitcher.

That suit would be chucked out unless contracts were sign or it was stolen.

iPumpkin 06-04-2012 03:23 AM

eBay girl, If you are reading and are still interested in selling this, PM me.

this wasn't confirmed in the old thread.
it looks like you were still trying to find out if it was real, but then she stopped the auction, and, i can only assume, also stopped answering any questions. there never was a post from you or dave that said, "yep, she's got the real thing. no doubt about it."

fuzzyroes 06-04-2012 05:24 AM

Is it just me or does the cover look sorta yellowed from cigarette smoke or something?

Cool As Ice Cream 06-04-2012 05:27 AM

it's just you.
cigarette smoke. lol.
