No it's James Iha's copy, that's why he is also selling A Perfect Circle memorabilia if you check his other items for sale. True story.

i don't think this is a fake. "too good to be true" isn't a very strong argument. it means he can't see anything wrong with it. which, in my opinion, is a decent argument that this is real.
but then i've never seen any pictures of this, so i have no idea. someone could have faked it, of course. the fact that there is tape on the sleeves is a good thing. if i remember it correctly, this is how they look. |

i remember the seller was called selling4supper back then. (link to old thread) i can't remember if she ever properly proved that this was a real copy, but her story was that her friend or boyfriend gave it to her, after buying it at a silent auction for about $400. it's the q101 copy. i think she said it was numbered 19/25, but we haven't seen any pictures of that. |
Good find on the history of the ebay names! It is interesting to me that the Perfect Circle vinyl award was presented to Q101 as well.. So maybe the original story wasn't 100%...? My theory is she worked at Q101 and "kept" both of the items..??

one of her old ebay names was "mary" too. so maybe it is the same person, and then indeed her original story was made up. maybe she pulled the plug on the previous auction because she was afraid that q101 would find out that she "kept" these items?
or there indeed was a q101 auction, and her boyfriend not only bought machina II, but also this APC award, and gave both to her. |

Right...which singular person at the radio station has control of that? How many "promotional only - not for sale" """collectors items""" given out to radio stations end up on eBay? How many successful, net gain lawsuits come about because of that?
I mean...I suppose Billy could sue the general manager if it's the Q101 copy in this case, but if it's really the one that was given James, or whomever, it was a gift and the ownership has been transferred so they can do whatever they want with it. |
I'm pretty sure that "promo only not for resale" malarkey is totally powerless and doesn't actually enforce anything. It's not like slapping a sticker on something makes it illegal to sell.

btw, the fact that someone wrote on the labels with a sharpie is consistent with the q101 theory. no fan receiving machina ii would have ever done that...
