Apparently the best way to help child soldiers is by sending the Ugandan army to hunt them down and kill them.

These children are literally invisible until American college students tell Lady Gaga to talk to Obama about them.

I'm glad that they are getting the attention needed, it's really hard to break through and get any support. I started working on a project with a small group of people back in 2009, to raise awareness and money for children living in 3rd world conditions on a couple of different reservations. It's hard to get people to listen or care about others in this country as it is.

Imaginary absolute standard? You mean the standard which holds people should have even the most basic understanding of what has been happening in central Africa before they support a dodgy NGO? Or the standard which holds you don't help kids by killing them?

Well, given there are so many militias running around central Africa, and the most recent ones are impossible to verify (how the hell would Human Rights Watch know who carried out the 2009 massacre) and that the LRA poses no significant threat to Uganda or the DRC, especially compared with a whole host of other problems that aren't military in nature, I would still say I am fairly sure. Kony is toothless now, especially since he has basically been cut off from Sudan, which was his biggest supplier of arms.

Yeah, and the current age for military service is something like 15, but they will take soldiers as young as 13, according to a whole bunch of reports.

Tell us shit head, what is the context here that makes military intervention okay? Because it just seems wrong to send an American client army into a foreign country to shoot child soldiers from an militia that has been impotent for half a decade, around the same time as - big coincidence! - oil reserves are discovered there.
