yes, i am a white person and this is a problem

SuckSuckStyle 12-31-2011 03:32 AM

was it a really nasty embarassing dui?
a lot of people have them now...if it's just your buddy who got a DUI, id say think about someone new

but if he's got his shit together, is a good contact, good reference, and the dui was a minor glitch in his path, especially if it was AFTER you worked with him, i dont think it's that huge. if they can call him at work and have a professional reference check up conversation in your favor, i wouldnt think much of it.

i could be wrong.

I've had 8 duis and my friend used me for a gov'ment job. You running for mayor or something?? Everyone important gets one at least once. Super important people get them once a week.

who cares
i doubt they'd even google him anyway

if you're losing sleep over it there are companies that specialize in making stuff like this disappear from google, or at least be pushed back a couple pages.

If the guy isn't well known it shouldn't be a big deal. Researching references is a timely task that's not worthwhile, and just going by a name means nothing (like, there can by 20 John Smith's).

bahnzah 12-31-2011 11:13 AM

This guy's got a pretty unique name. And by pretty unique I mean, he's probably the only person in the world with this name.

SuckSuckStyle 12-31-2011 11:21 AM

eh.

he'd probably be more apt to google your name than his.

honestly ive never thought that much about what my references look like on an online search- i just know that their good people and good references. i only care if they're reliable and helpful.

unless his name is like Creeper McRapeystein or Mohommad Skyhawk....nothing that sends up red flags.

unique/ethnic is not a red flag.

sppunk 12-31-2011 11:22 AM

Oh, hm. I still wouldn't and never have checked a references reference. References in general are skewed so I google stalk anyone more often than calling supplied references.
