should I shave?
 

I'm going to LA tomorrow for a graduation/family reunion.

I haven't seen most of my family in over 10 years, much less since my transition.

They all know about it and send their love, etc. Everyone is really excited to see each other on saturday.

I don't shave much because I really don't have to and I stopped paying attention to how much facial hair is starting to come in. It wasn't until about a month ago that people started commenting on stubble, etc when i had been lazy and not shaved. and for the first time ever i did a double-take in the mirror today because it was really noticeable.

I don't have a lot, but I kinda like what I have. It's not attractive; pretty patchy and really just my jaw and throat. but i've gotten used to it and it kinda fits, to be honest.

BUT,
i want to respect my family and not shove it in their face or flaunt it. and since its a semi-nice gathering, i'd usually opt for a clean shave. but that was before i really started sprouting...

i dont want to freak them out with my weird 15-year old facial hair.

it helps cover my acne :erm:




shit's crazy man...i wont think about it for a month or so and then one day ill look down at myself and be like 'wtf when did i get so FURRY?!'

note: this is my "old money" beverly hills/laguna beach/playa del rey family. My uncle is a preist.

you haven't seen them in 10 years? do what you want and don't worry about offending them, imo

But I suggest you try out a beard or goatee when u get time...

shave, if only since it is a nice gathering. i'm finally getting to the point, myself, that if i don't shave for a week i actually look like i've hit puberty.

Hmm, yeah, I think you should shave... not because you don't want to shove it in their face, but because patchy unshaven isn't good for a semi-nice gathering.

i thought of maybe just trimming it back/shaping it a bit. but it's really uneven lol. and i'm terrible at shaving anyway so it'd end up a disaster.

but yeah i'll start trying new things when i get home i guess.

shave. also just because it is a nice occasion.

i wont bring my razor, though. so by monday they'll get a little taste :)

and i'm keeping my feather 'stache. It's not gross or patchy. it's soft and unassuming.
