Local Walmart remains open after an employee is stabbed to death

http://www.wyff4.com/news/29968862/detail.html

My girlfriend was there and witnessed the immediate aftermath and performed CPR until EMS arrived. Per her, people were still checking out while she was doing chest compressions. After the poor lady was cleared off the scene, the cops roped off the blood soaked site of the massacre and Walmart conducted business as usual.

What the fuck is wrong with Walmart? What the fuck is wrong with people? Can you imagine trying to scan some fucking hot pockets after watching your coworker gutted like a fucking pig? What a fucked up world we live in :/

teh b0lly!!1 12-11-2011 10:18 AM

thats fucked up

exactlythesame 12-11-2011 10:22 AM

that's pretty awful. i kind of love that your girlfriend stayed with the woman and did her best to keep her with us. that's honestly one of the best and only things you can do in such a situation.

"attention walmart shoppers: there has been a violent crime ending in death at the front of the store, but please continue shopping."

exactlythesame 12-11-2011 10:24 AM

in that scenario, if i worked there and saw that happen, i would have been

NOPE
fuck walmart
fuck this job
fuck these people
fuck that guy
fuck the world

all at once

Ol' Couch Ass 12-11-2011 10:25 AM

I'm proud of her for stepping up. She is studying to be a Paramedic and has recently begun work as an EMT. There was nothing that could be done for the lady as her husband had really done a number on her. She says it was pretty freaky as there was a panic and stampede immediately after the stabbing.

Eulogy 12-11-2011 10:31 AM

it was her husband? yikes.

and yeah i have no idea why they would stay open. gross.

Ol' Couch Ass 12-11-2011 10:39 AM

Estranged husband apparently. Dude took off afterwards and crashed his car a few miles from the store. As the police closed in he stabbed himself though he's expected to live.

Sad, but in a way it's comforting that there was at least a reason for the outburst. It would be a bit more unnerving if it was random.

to play devil's advocate walmarts (or at least the ones around here) are fucking massive and full of people so closing it on the fly isn't a simple feat. when i was in college something similar happened at the local walmart and they had to get half the town's police just to block off the entrances and direct people out of the store, some who'd been waiting in line for awhile so they weren't happy with it. it was a mess

ilikeplanets 12-11-2011 11:59 AM

But not even to go in that direction...to just conduct business as usual? Well, it takes talent to be unaffected, I suppose!

The place largely emptied out after the stabbing as people were freaking out on their own accord. Granted, some heartless bastards continued their shopping and checking out. However, an employee at each entrance turning new customers away on account of the tragedy that just occurred would have had the place emptied out in less than an hour.

duovamp 12-11-2011 01:04 PM

Sure it was a tragedy, but I have children to feed.

duovamp 12-11-2011 01:04 PM

Nine of them.

seriously couch ass what was your girlfriend doing at walmart

slunken 12-11-2011 05:51 PM

there are countless things that represent everything that is wrong with this country. targeting wal-mart as the boogeyman is basic consumerism at it's worst.

Order 66 12-11-2011 06:04 PM

i went regularly when i lived across the street from one. its not that much worse than going to a grocery chain except there are just shitloads of people everywhere and it can take up to 20 mins waiting in line if you go at a certain time of day

exactlythesame 12-11-2011 07:03 PM

if this is going to turn into a 'well if she didn't work at walmart none of this would have happened . . .' sort of thread, i'm out

SuckSuckStyle 12-11-2011 07:08 PM

yeah im not trying to get into the politics of walmart. i know for a fact that my money is going plenty of other places that i don't want it to go. but i TRY to make a conscious effort to avoid certain companies, and i dont blame you if you dont share my views.

kelsome 12-11-2011 07:59 PM

wonderful establishment

this was on my local news, too.

kelsome 12-11-2011 08:00 PM

what a way to go. died in a walmart.

man, i mean, of course it's where the trash of the world shop but this poor lady was actually working at a bank that happened to be in a walmart, trying to make a living in this utterly shitty world we're in. i know this sort of thing is probably why you hate 9-5 scrub jobs but sometimes people have to do this for their families, etc. . .

bottom line tragedy is tragedy is tragedy no matter who it is or where it happens. (not insinuating that's what you mean, ijs.)

Her hair care products are like half of what she pays at the salon. Economy is tough on all of us :/

I've let her know how proud I am of her. Tons of people would have just gotten the fuck out and chosen not to get involved... it's not in her character. Though that poor lady was dead when she hit the ground I can't help but feel that her soul or life force or whatever the hell you want to call it realized that someone was there and gave a shit about her as it patiently lingered and waiting to drift off into the great beyond. It's summed up pretty nicely in Bringing out the Dead and I can tell you from experience it's palpable- the feeling that their energy is just hovering in the air waiting to waft off in peace.

TuralyonW3 12-11-2011 08:43 PM

Hating on Walmart to the exclusion of the dozens of other American corporations that rape the third world to profit off the lower socioeconomic class is stupid

sppunk 12-11-2011 09:00 PM

Well she wasn't a Walmart employee and was working in a private, rented space.

no, totally. people gotta do what they gotta do these days. i totally get it. that's why i said i don't mind if people don't share my views on walmart. plenty of people are doing shit they dont want to be doing right now because they have to. it sucks.
