A quick recap of this comment >>> |
"from what you can hear" is the key words. Corgans been butchering songs in the studio like crazy as of late. And even so the live renditions of the Oceania tracks aren't exactly getting me stoked or anything. Some tracks sound promising but none of them get me excited or anything...
But I guess Oceania is a make it or break it album for me. So I'll have to wait and see... Keep in mind after Jimmy left Billy went off about how the new stuff will be incredible and blow our minds and we got the Teargarden debacle.... Whatever though. Corgans an amazing musician. He's created a huge body of work that I've enjoyed greatly. So even if all his new music is shit he's still given me a lot of listening pleasure. |

The problem I think with Corgan's band today compared to the past is ths: he used to be a perfectionist that didn't settle for anything inferior in his eyes. The past few years he isn't a perfectionist and is ok with subpar performances.
He seems to have little drive to create anything like the power the true SP had going, regardless if it were the Gish or Adore era. You could tell from the Arising! to Machina tour, something changed in Billy and his music/band has never been remotely the same. This version of I Am One is worse than a shitty cover band's attempt. |
if he used to be a perfectionist he wouldn't have had James and D'arcy in the band.
shit happens. |
