Jimmy just picked up Billy's pissy energy when he commented on the Isaak show about James and D'arcy. Like it was a point he was in half-agreement on with Billy and then just backs him up when Billy starts in on it, thereby making himself look pissy as well and gee, uhhh, no wonder he left Bill's.

at this point he should go solo if he could pick up Matt Walker again, get some freaks on the side that can play and play whatever the fuck he wants and get this b.s. over with.

For the record: I never said Jeff was a "bad" guitarist - he's really just kind of a non issue who services his parts well, but does not appear to evidence skills on the level of Billy. Nicole - another non-issue, really. She seems to be a better bassist than D'arcy but it really doesn't matter at the level of bass parts she's required to play, and anyway that has nothing to do with the puzzling choice of bass tone in that rendition of Cherub Rock. Mainly I was criticizing the playing style of Mike, which seems particularly ill suited in Cherub Rock.

as stumpycat said: jeff and nicole don't ruin songs. they do what is needed and are able to do it.

mike on the other hand seems to be struggling to bring the basics that are needed for the songs to work. i would say most of the times he's able enough not to butcher them. the big problem is, that jimmy had the skill to add so much more to the drumming than was the minimum requirement that hist drumming elevated the performance to higher levels. and he did this with seemingly no big effort on his part. and the difference between jimmy and mike makes some of the songs hard to listen to. if you would never have heard this i am one with jimmy drumming it wouldn't be so bad.

and i think the band, or at least the sound guy knows this. at the vienna show the drums were incredibly far back in the mix, just enough to know they were there,...

so how 'bout that I Am One performance?

you fail to see that Billy's rather negative outlook on his former bandmates affected Jimmy's view on those people during Billy's pissy rants on them. It was pretty obvious because Jimmy never really said anything that negative about them before.

Jimmy left. He wasn't having fun anymore and it was just about the money at that point and what's ironic is that he and Billy would argue over the setlist on what to play but Billy by and large didn't listen to Jimmy's suggestions UNTIL NOW, when Jimmy's gone. Nice one BC. retard.

I saw the original line-up some 15 times back in the day and the level of energy of this band today from then isn't comparable on any level. So to bash James and Darcy for not being all that talented musicians (again, so what, the chemistry was right but Billy never mentions this anymore), yet supposedly have better musicians today but have the band suck instead of be great, doesn't really help Billy's reputation and only shows shills like you who think this band is just as good or better to be as blind as Billy.

He's talking about when they started out, when Jimmy joined the band. And if you know anything about Pumpkins history, they dedicated themselves to intensely long rehearsals so they could all play well together. It's also know Jimmy has longer history of experience of playing with pro band way before james and darcy did.

BTW, There's an interview in 1994, on the 'great pumpkin' cd where Jimmy calls Darcy a "GREAT PLAYER." So suck on that. you've got no foot to stand on.

That still doesn't EXPLAIN WHY BILLY HIRED SHITTY MUSICIANS TO TAKE THE PLACE OF PEOPLE HE CONSIDERED SHITTY MUSICIANS. And in the case of Mike Byrne.. fuck. Hire someone on high school level musicianship to take the place of Jimmy. makes sense, right?
