Herman Cain

WTF was his campaign thinking with this ad?

IMO he doesn't expect to win or intend to try to win the nomination. He makes his living selling his books, motivational speaches and appearing at right wing gatherings. Not unlike other conservativs like Sarah Palin, Newt, Pat Buchanon, etc. he's screwing around in the primary as a way to boost his "brand".

Once it's over he'll negotiate a contract with Fox for a TV show.

redbreegull 10-25-2011 04:40 PM

lol

I don't really see how this hurts him, it's just a totally bizarre ad

MyOneAndOnly 10-25-2011 04:46 PM

this prolly won't hurt either...

Toast 10-25-2011 04:59 PM

Ol' Tar Lungs went on Fox to explain the ad...

I think the only message they were trying to send with the ad is that they're not going to crack to political correctness. Cain is trying to portray himself as the anti-politician, so it makes sense.

no. it doesn't make sense.

Nimrod's Son 10-25-2011 05:04 PM

it's an "everyman" approach but i don't think scotty has the mental faculties to see that

lala 10-25-2011 05:06 PM

i think he could actually win the nom if he had money and the establishment behind him. but yeah it's a vanity campaign

that's how big of a vacuum the gop field is now - this guy actually ended up being a frontrunner

But doesn't that apply to ...everyone?

Order 66 10-25-2011 05:34 PM

i don't think so. perry for example had money and most of the establishment willing to give him a shot. but he blew it on his own ineptitude.

the RNC laid the groundwork for a strong personality to come along and be our next president. but cain isn't what they had in mind

Order 66 10-25-2011 05:35 PM

also i got to emphasize the money part. cain's campaign is running on fumes in relation to romney

MyOneAndOnly 10-25-2011 06:20 PM

Trotskilicious 10-25-2011 11:55 PM

I do have to give kudos to the way this argument has been framed by the left:
if a conservative votes for a black man, he does it in order to cover his racism. if he doesn't vote for the black man, he's not doing so because he's a racist.

Eulogy 10-27-2011 12:13 PM

they come from different camps

and both of them exist.

Eulogy 10-27-2011 12:14 PM

when herman cain says "racism doesn't hold anyone back," you don't realize that a whole bunch of white racists hear it and say "SEE EVEN A BLACK GUY KNOWS IT!!"

you might be one of those people though so i don't blame you for not being able to see how that works.
