with the black keys all over the place now- seriously, it seems like you can't not hear them at some point every day- i'm kind of sick of them. but the couple of comments they've made about this new one have me intrigued. hopefully it's good and i can enjoy it before i have to hear it everywhere i go.

Dogfighter28 10-10-2011 06:49 PM

i dont understand the need for blues rock anymore

Trotskilicious 10-10-2011 07:12 PM

I agree with dog fucker but they're really good at it

brothers is a Perfect Pop Album. I think part of it has to do with the frequent hip hop basslines from Danger Mouse.

MusicMan4 10-10-2011 07:19 PM

where are you going that you hear the black keys everywhere? i've never heard them once

MusicMan4 10-10-2011 07:20 PM

actually i heard them once when they got played on the howard stern show when they found out the guys in the band are big fans

Dogfighter28 10-10-2011 07:33 PM

i'm sorry that i don't like music that was stale thirty+ years ago

Dogfighter28 10-10-2011 07:33 PM

i like punk rock too, i just don't see the point in being close minded towards the blues

Trotskilicious 10-10-2011 09:32 PM

we already listened to it

Dogfighter28 10-10-2011 10:00 PM

i guess we should still listen to people banging on rocks too

Gossamer 10-10-2011 10:03 PM

you are excluding an entire genre of music.

I could understand if we were talking about something as disposable as 90's boy bands but this is THE BLUES.

Dogfighter28 10-10-2011 10:10 PM

i guess reggaeton is legit too right

Dogfighter28 10-10-2011 10:15 PM

what about throat singing monks?

gospel?

russian marches?

i'm sure you listen to everything except country and rap... or anything heavier than disturbed, right?

Gossamer 10-10-2011 10:18 PM

Did you seriously just compare the blues to reggaeton?

You gotta be shitting me. This conversation is not worth my time anymore.

Dogfighter28 10-10-2011 10:20 PM

Gossamer - psych-taste-maker-ologist

Dogfighter28 10-10-2011 10:21 PM

blues rock is a different story, and there is a whoooooole lot of great music rooted in the blues

but BLUES ITSELF is MATHEMATICALLY LIMITED to a certain set of keys and progressions in its purest form. there is a LOGICAL END POINT.

Trotskilicious 10-10-2011 10:36 PM

how can you continuously be entertained by the same shit over and over again

how many times can you hear the blues legends imitated forever into oblivion. shit came out thousands of years ago for real. Nobody's sayin Howlin Wolf or Led Zeppelin ain't the shit but you know in this day and age, having a blues rock band...well. you better be good.

and i will compare the blues as a "genre" to hip hop and a lot of motherfuckers don't listen to that still

Trotskilicious 10-10-2011 10:37 PM

i decided fuck jazz. that's how punk fucking rock i am

Dogfighter28 10-10-2011 10:43 PM

i really want to like jazz, but my reliance on technology has made my attention span very short

i need to just bite the bullet and get some quality vinyls, since i tend to sit and listen intently when i have a physical copy

When you decide "fuck punk". Then and only then will you be truly punk fucking rock.

Catherine Wheel 10-12-2011 05:23 PM

I liked Tighten Up. That's all I've really heard by them.

I like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club when they venture into blues rock territory.
