Have A Nice Life - Deathconciousness
 

So i'm late to this party myself, but I don't think i've ever seen mention of this record on this board. In brief: fucking essential. Quintessential classic the same way Loveless or Spiderland or Unknown Pleasures are classics. I have a strange feeling that Turalyon might have already heard it but i'm levelling this recommendation at Trots, Catherine Wheel, Agenda, Soniclovenoize, PkPhuoko and so on.

Lush double album borrowing stylistically from shoegaze, 70s/80s industrial/goth, "slowcore" (fuck I hate that term), hints of psych-folk, even a sprinkle of 70s prog melodies (I'm reminded specifically of Floyd). Dense as fuck, took me a while to really crack it, but i'm absolutely infatuated.

I got it maybe two months ago, I kept seeing it being hyped amongst various circles so I finally decided that I couldn't ignore it any more. I was listening to it on repeat every day for a couple of weeks.

Most if not all of it was recorded through a laptop's pinhole microphone, if I'm not mistaken.

voice sounds like whathisface from the The Fixx...alot.

It does bear a certain resemblance to Spiderland in that I don't get the appeal at all. I just get really bored when there's not a lot of melody to hear.
