The trailer is fucking amazing. This is going to blow away all the other superhero films coming out this year.

I have a soft spot for that show. It's probably mostly nostalgia. I had given up on Reynolds until I found about this film. So tired of the charming frat boy / slacker roles he seems to play for the most part.

he is Deadpool, that's all he can ever be. Effectively, at least.

I can't see Deadpool working as a full-length feature. What makes the comic work well in print (e.g.: all the breaking the fourth wall stuff) is going to sound awkward and cheesy on the big screen.

there's a way to make it incredible but I highly doubt anyone working on the script is going to consult Fabian Nicezia and/or Joe Kelly, although in a perfect world they'd co-write it.

Marvel Studios would probably just make it a bullet fest action flick instead of utilizing the capacity Deadpool has for satire, especially visa viz the stereotypical 90s anti-hero archetype. Since Nicezia developed him from Liefeld-mercenary-clone-villain he turned into an almost cartoonish parody of the gritty 90s anti-hero. Joe Kelly just kicked that into overdrive.

That reminds me, one of the worst things about the success of Deadpool and a possible movie is that Liefeld is getting paid for it.

That's exactly what I'm worried about. Making Deadpool just another superhero action movie would be a massive shit on everything that makes him such a great comic character. According to Wikipedia they do at least plan on having him break the fourth wall in the upcoming movie. It's apparently being written by the guys who wrote Zombieland, so make what you will of that.
