anybody getting a 3DS sunday?

its worth its own thread i think.

anybody ready to game in THREEDEE. and what games are you going to get. the launch lineup is pretty meh so i'm not sure. leaning towards star wars lego whatever but i dunno.

Eulogy 03-25-2011 11:42 PM

$250? yeesh. i guess if you've already got an xbox 360, ps3, and a wii, and you really like video games... but that seems kind of expensive, no?

Future Boy 03-25-2011 11:44 PM

still undecided. The most I'm looking forward to at launch are the AR card games, so I'll probably sit it out. Checked it out at Bestbuy, but all you could try out was Pilotwings, and they have it set up at midget height.

You know, for kids.

Eulogy 03-25-2011 11:46 PM

i'd rather buy a ps3 in anticipation for the new mortal kombat

also the two screen thing has never appealed to me

i'm not exactly ballin' but i'm able to swing it. and i just paid rent and stuff.

normally i wait about a year or two when systems come out before i buy them but 1) its in 3d. that's just too cool to pass up, and 2) my gut tells me it'll be sold out most of this year so, may as well get it now. i almost pre-orded one or two more to sell online during the holidays. but i probably can't swing that right now

I can understand reason 2 but reason 1 doesn't appeal to me all that much

maybe i've just seen the wrong 3d movies but it already seems overused to me

Order 66 03-25-2011 11:54 PM

i was always enamored by the idea of 3D games. yeah movies overuse it but if used right like avatar it can make for a cool experience. not expecting to get my mind blown on every game but it seems like the perfect stoner system

Eulogy 03-25-2011 11:55 PM

well that could definitely be true

I only fiddled with it for a few minutes, because no joke-that setup is uncomfortable, but it seemed good. When I first looked at it the slider was all the way up and my eyes couldnt lock on so I set it halfway and after a minute or so slid it up and had no problem. I dont know that pilotwings is the best title to show it off, it definitely added depth to the map which was cool, but no "it's coming right at me" moments or anything.

whaaaat how do you get that

Elvis The Fat Years 03-26-2011 12:34 AM

Go to the playstation store and download it for free. You only get to play four matches. The controls, as far as i remember, are exactly the same as the old super nintendo version. It's the only reason I've been kicking ass with Scorpion... because I remember the controls. Anyone know if the game will have online play?

Order 66 03-26-2011 12:35 AM

GET OVER HERE

Elvis The Fat Years 03-26-2011 12:37 AM

i play online. whiteguyswithblackcocks.com Ask for Juan and ill give you a good time.

Gish08 03-26-2011 05:35 AM

Nintendo and Sony didn't get the memo.

iPhone and Android are going to slaughter the handheld gaming market as we know it.

cocksure 03-26-2011 06:05 AM

3ds you say

barden 03-26-2011 06:08 AM

i saw one of these in the store yesterday. some dude was giving a demo. I played a bit of streetfighter or something. it was pretty cool. it works much better when you are actually holding it and not watching it.

It was rad. Not mind blowing, but pretty rad.
i'd consider getting one to kill time at work or something if i had the spare cash, but i dont.

that would be 5+ years from now. lot of reasons why nintendo and sony invest so much R&D in these things

smashingjj 03-26-2011 07:00 AM

yuck no

Mooney 03-26-2011 12:19 PM

isn't it essentially a handheld n64? yay, for looking like a dork playing a video game experience from 15 years ago. might as well play games on your phone.

JokeyLoki 03-26-2011 12:27 PM

I miss Super Nintendo :(

its more like a handheld commadore 64 but there's a screen slider you can adjust to give it n64 graphics

Mooney 03-26-2011 03:43 PM

i haven''t even looked at the thing, but if this is nintendo releasing extremely dated hardware with a gimmick to move units than this is getting a little tiresome.

Eulogy 03-26-2011 03:46 PM

i don't think 3d on a portable gaming system is outdated. and even if it didn't have that how would it be more dated than the psp?

what are you going on about moonman

Order 66 03-26-2011 03:50 PM

in all seriousness i think it has the graphics of a gimped xbox 360 - which places it above wii and psp. which, for a portable under $300, is pretty good.

well, the gamecube was dated junk and i guess their only gimmick was that they could plaster mario and link's face all over the box. the wii was extremely dated hardware with motion controls thrown in as the gimmick.

and the 3DS is as i understand pretty much slightly updated N64 remakes with 3D thrown in as a gimmick, while the PSP has been playing games that are better than PS2 quality for years. i've never played a psp.
