exactly. that's the point why guttenberg ended the obligatory military service. Becoming a soldier now is on volontary basis. we still are quite active in afghanistan, but the army force there is being reduced.

the resignation however was caused by guttenberg's obvious cheating in his thesis. Various quotes have been copied, he was called a fraud from many places, and he couldn't take it anymore
