yeah he was a douche for orchestrating this whole television special about his "announcement" but I suppose everything in the sports world is blown out of proportion these days. what can we expect when there is so much money involved?
I personally think the bulls were a better fit for him in the long run but i can't blame him for wanting to play with his two superstar friends.
almost anything was a better than staying in cleveland.
dan gilbert should know that and his little tirade made him look like the worst out of everyone in this

your dismissal of chicago is essentially groundless. they got rid of a mediocre coach and brought in one of the best assistants in the league.

you can't talk about your "brand" and achieving some global superstardom status and then put your tail between your legs and run off to play second fiddle for a guy who already has a ring.

also, calling D-Wade (learn to spell his name before hopping on that bandwagon, dude) classy after he threw the Bulls organization under the bus, then met with them twice to feign interest, and claimed to make a decision based on what's best for his family while making it virtually impossible to gain custody of his children is... suspect.

lol

-I didn't just dismiss Chicago, I pointed out why they were clearly not a better option than Miami given the situation.

-You think he'll be ANY less of a global superstar? (villain or not...i.e. Kobe)

-Wade was spying for Riley...that's called strategy. :smoke:

Are you some Bulls homer or something?

-Clearly not the better option because they fired their coach or something? What? Rose/James/Boozer/Noah would likely beat Wade/Bosh if James had it in him to lead a team.

-Will he be less of a superstar? Yes, of course he will be. He's now one of three. That attention, that sponsorship money, those jersey sales, all get divided now.

-Ummmm I've been a Bulls fan my whole life... so... yes?

-And he has very little chance of gaining custody. In Illinois they are reluctant to grant custody to parents who want to move kids out of state. I suppose it could still happen, but he made it a lot more difficult.

-Lebron was weighing James/Wade/Bosh (+Pat Riley!!! keep in mind) against Rose/James/Boozer/Noah (+ Jerry Reinsdorf who a lot of people don't like), why wouldn't he play with his friends he's been wanting to play with since the Olympics? Wade is a much better #1 or 2 than Boozer, Bosh is a lot more developed than Rose or Noah, and Riley is committed to filling out the rest of the team into a winner (other guys are already looking at taking less $$ to play with Miami Thrice). Wade also likes coach Spoelstra and I'm sure passed that on to Lebron. All in all, clearly the better option from Lebron's perspective. I'm sure he weighed the cities against each other too...Chicago is great but maybe he was tired of the cold and wanted beach and sun, who knows.

-He's not going to get any less sponsorship money. In fact Nike said they'd UP his money if he had to take a pay cut. All the Miami fans already have their Wade Jerseys...now NEW SALES of #6 Jersey's are going through the fucking roof. I might even argue he'll get MORE sponsorship money and jersey sales out of all this. And obviously he won't lose one iota of global recognition.

-Apparently Wade's ex is a crazy bitch though and hasn't made a good impression with the courts. Wade actually won temporary custody a few weeks back. So I think you're "very little chance" isn't accurate.

As a Bulls fan are you excited about Boozer? I look forward to seeing this team in action. Do you think there will be any other offseason acquisitions?

slunken 07-10-2010 10:44 PM

I haven't read this thread and I pretty much live in Ohio but I just want to say that nobody in Ohio cares as much as the media would like you to think people in Ohio cares. I have spoken with dozens of Ohio-ans and watched a lot of Ohio news and this is the consensus.

They picked up Korver and offered a contract to Reddick.

hnibos 07-12-2010 01:19 AM

I'm not saying he didn't make a move that puts him in a position to win a ring. But I just think he's shirking responsibility. Why wouldn't he want to lead a team and beat Wade and Bosh? Alone it wouldn't mean much, but couple it with his less-than-stellar playoff appearance and it makes it seem like he's an immature baby who doesn't want the responsibility that great players have always had, enjoyed, and thrived with (Jordan, Bryant, Bird, etc.)

People are jumping on the bandwagon right now, but we have to be honest about Miami. It's not a sports town. And it's certainly not a basketball town. I'm sure he'll make his money though.

I'm just parroting what I've heard from Illinois divorce attorneys. I imagine they know more than either of us. Whether or not he's got a shot at it, it would have been a slam dunk had he come to the Bulls. It's fine that he made that decision, it just bothers me that he tries to bullshit everyone about how this decision was made because of his family. That makes zero sense.

Yeah, I've always liked Boozer, and I'm just glad they didn't come away empty-handed. Add Korver into the mix (I don't know much about him but I assume he's a Steve Kerr type?) and they're clearly better than they were last year. They'll be top 4 in the East and probably lose in the second round. But they have the talent to get lucky and move beyond that if they play well I think.
