Really, Topeka?

The Official Web Site of the City of Topeka

On March 1, 2010, Topeka Mayor Bill Bunten issued a proclamation calling for Topeka to be known for the month of March as "Google, Kansas, the capital city of fiber optics."[18] This was to help "support continuing efforts to bring Google's fiber experiment" to Topeka, though it was not a legal name change. Lawyers advised the city council and mayor against an official name change.[19]

I can't be fucked looking it up but I remember a story about a guy who legally changed his name to Turok: Dinosaur Hunter for a promo competition and then died before he could change it back, so his death certificate reads Turok: Dinosaur Hunter

Topeka is pretty average for the midwest politically, in its county McCain beat Obama by 241 votes. doesn't have a democratic rep now though, she lost in 2008
