Mononucleosis
 

My throat is fuxed up and I went to the doctor today. I have mono. I feel absolutely fine besides the fact that I can barely swallow. I've heard varying stories about how this affected people - some bedridden for months, some barely changed their day to day routine. Who else has been stricken with the kissing disease and what can I expect?

I've never kissed anyone, so yeah - I'm germ-free.

Okay, well I have been kissed, but I usually try to avoid human contact. Like last night I went pubbing and then after closing time I was hanging around in the car park chatting with one of the girls who works there, and the security guard came over and elbowed in on our conversation and he said he was waiting for a cab, so I gave him a lift home and he leaned in for something or other, so I quickly turned my head because - fucking hell - I was giving him a lift home - not offering to spawn his children. There's way to much saliva-exchange going on in the world.

Also, I don't have any recent pictures of myself - or any pictures of myself (and hate having my photo taken), but I found two online and posted them in the picture thread.

I've known a couple of people who've had it. One didn't even notice, and the other one slept a lot. So his throat probably won't close off and cause him to die screaming, clawing at the walls. Probably. :erm:

I once was antibiotics too long and got oral thrush which was incredibly painful and I couldn't swallow either so I can empathise with you df28
