PkPhuoko 02-19-2010 02:06 AM

This happened like 5 or 6 exits down the street from where I work. Made a pretty big pillar of smoke.

btw here is his manifesto

Well Mr. Big Brother IRS man... take my pound of flesh and sleep well.

applepwnz 02-19-2010 02:14 AM

that guy seemed crazier than a $3 bill! by his little quote at the bottom it seems that he hated communists, but he hated capitalists too?

My introduction to the real American nightmare starts back in the early ‘80s. Unfortunately after more than 16 years of school, somewhere along the line I picked up the absurd, pompous notion that I could read and understand plain English. Some friends introduced me to a group of people who were having ‘tax code’ readings and discussions. In particular, zeroed in on a section relating to the wonderful “exemptions” that make institutions like the vulgar, corrupt Catholic Church so incredibly wealthy. We carefully studied the law (with the help of some of the “best”, high-paid, experienced tax lawyers in the business), and then began to do exactly what the “big boys” were doing (except that we weren’t steeling from our congregation or lying to the government about our massive profits in the name of God). We took a great deal of care to make it all visible, following all of the rules, exactly the way the law said it was to be done.

The intent of this exercise and our efforts was to bring about a much-needed re-evaluation of the laws that allow the monsters of organized religion to make such a mockery of people who earn an honest living. However, this is where I learned that there are two “interpretations” for every law; one for the very rich, and one for the rest of us… Oh, and the monsters are the very ones making and enforcing the laws; the inquisition is still alive and well today in this country.

That little lesson in patriotism cost me $40,000+, 10 years of my life, and set my retirement plans back to 0. It made me realize for the first time that I live in a country with an ideology that is based on a total and complete lie. It also made me realize, not only how naive I had been, but also the incredible stupidity of the American public; that they buy, hook, line, and sinker, the crap about their “freedom”… and that they continue to do so with eyes closed in the face of overwhelming evidence and all that keeps happening in front of them.

"Me and some of my buddies started reading about tax shelters and came up with this cockamamie plan to create our own church so we wouldn't have to pay taxes and we paid a bunch of attorneys money to say it was okay and then surprisingly this fooled no one and I ended up losing a bunch of money, but could still afford a plane."

i got a lot of sympathy for people who get bamboozled by our idiotically complex tax code, but this guy set out to create a fake church to hide his income and then got caught. i mean maybe it was all a giant protest, but I've never believed anyone who sets up a tax shelter and says that it's entirely about protesting the unfairness of the tax code or whatever.

applepwnz 02-19-2010 02:17 AM

was the plane his? I kindof got the impression that he just went to the airport and stole one

Order 66 02-19-2010 02:19 AM

If he wrote that then I guess he's alive and well. I was getting concerned there thank god

The plane was registered under his name. he owned it before he moved from California to Austin. Apparently Georgetown airport has record of the plane leaving, but for small airplanes they don't have to have approved flight paths. The house that burnt down this morning was also apparently in his name.
They found a body in the building that they believe to be his, but forensics has to verify this.

I almost made a thread about this this morning right after it happened.

after reading that manifesto i wish he had killed more people/made a bigger smoke cloud

i mean, obviously the fake church business is absurd, but he has a point about the rich getting away with sh1t and it seems like he might have some legitimate gripe re: that tax business

I wonder if there is a way for his family to claim the cost of a new house and plane as a tax deduction

read his manifesto, he's crazy and wrong, but not exactly a rightwinger. people from both sides can cherry pick the manifesto for partisan fighting, but there are probably more interesting points to be made. such as how the country is reacting to this compared to how it reacted to the underwear bomber, despite the fact that both events are, by definition, terrorist acts.

Boots Electric 02-19-2010 06:55 PM

so how many more people will the IRS have to audit to cover the damage to the building? subtract the 100k in wages they no longer have to pay due to employees lost.
