The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement

VHEMT

Doing research for my final history class and was thinking about the economic changes/ population growth the world has seen in the past 500 centuries. Exploring the web brought me here.

Quote:

Q: Are we all supposed to kill ourselves?
SUMMARY: Increasing human deaths will not improve population density. Many people are advocating an increase in the death rate to reduce human population numbers. However, increased death has historically increased births. Promoting reproductive freedom, economic opportunity, and education will shrink our masses faster and nicer.
Quote:

phasing out the human race by voluntarily ceasing to breed will allow Earth’s biosphere to return to good health. Crowded conditions and resource shortages will improve as we become less dense.

Stupid fad for hxc kids who think being straightedge and vegan isn't enough.

I googled the Doctor that spoke in the beginning and compared humans to cancer:

Apparently he is the unicorn of late-term abortion doctors.

overpopulation is a HUGE problem. people with the internet don't like to think about it though because they're not the ones that are going to start dying when we run out of food/energy to support everyone.

28if 02-18-2010 05:26 PM

yeah basically, though whites shouldn't be having kids either. that means you, jokeyloki and d.! especially since white babies tend to use up WAY more resources than non-white babies.

there is enough of a food supply to provide for the current world population. i dont think thinning out the rich herds to make room for the poor makes sense unless your ideal society is just a maximum # of poor ppl living off beans

Less rich people also means less poor people. The money/resources those people held won't just dissolve, they will be reallocated.

man i think it's just a basic human quality to think that way. i read on a bathroom stall once "they say that evil prevails when good people fail to act. what they should have said was, evil prevails."

yeah you're right. that just makes it even more of an issue though. you never hear people talking about the population problem, although aside from the energy crisis and global warming it is the single greatest threat to our species.

have yall seen the vice guide to liberia? feel like the first 3 parts should be required viewing for anyone who is considering non-racism

ATS 02-18-2010 09:55 PM

28if how does your inability to have sex (procreate) and ur stock of horrible genes (nearsightedness, paleness) factor into your policy on overpopulation

ATS 02-18-2010 09:59 PM

i feel like within 100-200 years, we will have the technology to sustain some given world population in equilibrium with nature using solar energy and distributing materials other than plastic, but i also feel like the breeding peoples of the world will always furnish an endless supply of aids-infected uneducated poor kids. even worse, all the humanitarian efforts seem geared towards maximizing this population via anti-malaria shots and cheap water purification

ATS 02-18-2010 10:02 PM

i also think even the environment-minded ppl don't seem able to give up their plastic (via vice's guide to the plastic gyre)

Sarcastic Smile 02-18-2010 10:40 PM

Well even if they gave up plastic it wouldn't matter. It could only help the situation by cutting down on shit but at the end of the day they are still living life and producing waste and enjoying modern technology. How do we get this info? The blog it from their plastic, chemical filled computers:

According to the US EPA, more than 4.6 million tonnes of e-waste ended up in US landfills in 2000.

when everything is made of plastic it's difficult to live without it. think of sarcasticsmile's snowflake/avalance metaphor. people aren't going to stop using plastic if all the food available to them is packaged in it. environmental change needs to come from the top. everyone replacing their lightbulbs with cfls and unplugging unused appliances is all well and good, but doesn't really DO anything. we need to pass a real cap-and-trade bill and get the ball rolling on this shit pronto.

Sarcastic Smile 02-19-2010 06:42 PM

No plastic is not difficult to live without it's expensive to live without.

28if 02-19-2010 07:07 PM

expensive = difficult?
